Even with the lift assist on the Minn Kota Fortrex, the rope eventually breaks. Sick of it. Went to Home Depot and got the cable and crimp ends for less than $5. Used the existing T-handle. Beats the heck out of paying $30 for the fancy one from Tackle Warehouse ... no offense intended to anyone who went that route. They do look nice, but so does the one I made. curious to how you crimped the cable loop together underneath the brace arm?? that is a great idea for a replacement, and will last a long time. i always use a length of weedeater string. very cheap and they actually last a very long time. bo

Lvn2Fish Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I went the $35 dollar route , where you buy $5 worth of stuff to do it yourself. Then fail, and go buy the 30 dollar rig. Eric the awful fisherman, crazy4fishin and dtrs5kprs 3
Hughesy Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 I wonder at what level they will unlock the gates to the park.

You can really dress that up with either red or black shrink wrap. You can also get that at Lowe's or Home Depot. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

On my MK Fortrex, there was no problem with it fitting up inside the mount.
Bill Babler Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 If you got the cable with the clear coating, that probably does just as good as the shrink wrap. I used to have just a fit with that pull rope, but knock on wood, This last one has lasted 2 full seasons and looks as good as new.
