Ketchup Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I don't watch a lot of television, but one of the shows I record and watch is Major League Fishing. This past week, round 3 had James Watson as one of the 6 guys fishing. During the show, he made several comments that made me come to the conclusion that he isn't someone I would waste my time getting to know, or fish with. Maybe one or a few of you know him, but his appearance on the show didn't do him well. I've read tons of similar comments in regards to his appearance on MLF, so I know I'm not a loner here. Anyone one else watch it with a feeling that he appears to be an immature queen? J-Doc 1 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
J-Doc Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I have my opinion but not based on MLF. I believe it was last year's FLW event (or year before) he was expecting to win it and his practice went really well. Come tournament time, he did not do well. And.........like many, blamed it on something that has no bearing on his results. How can you go bragging about the a lake's quality fish population saying how he's "on em".... and then only a few days later say the very same lake "sucks" and blame it on something he knows little about? So yeah, I can see him complaining a lot on how he didn't catch them on MLF. And if he did, he would talk more trash than Fat Cat Newton! Need marine repair? Ketchup Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Sounds typical of his appearance on the show. At one point he let his fish touch the boat, which in that format is a 2 minute penalty. He asked the boat ref, what if I hit you. In my opinion, he said it in a way that he was threatening the ref. He made a few comments about how he didn't like his boat ref. At one point he even said he would kick his butt "not his exact words". Just have zero respect for the guy. There are many many young kids that watch that show, and to be forced to watch his childish actions in order to watch the show, isn't what I turn the TV on for. He made the cut "top 4" to move on, so at some point I will have to watch his antics again. Let's just hope he matures some between now and then. #growupwatson TinBoats BassClub. fishinwrench Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Who the heck wants the full field of MLF to be perfect little polite fishing robots ? Adding in personality is a good thing. aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 It was all in good fun, I met up with Watson yesterday and he couldnt believe all the people that didnt realize he was just joking around and having fun. One of the nicest guys you will could ever meet. After meeting up with him yesterday i can assure you i will never have to buy another, jig, any plastic, or spinnerbaits for about 20 years. He hooked me up with so much nice stuff. Most of which is still in a package and new
Quillback Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 My opinion was that we was just trying to be funny. Basschomper and dtrs5kprs 2
Guest Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Im not defending Watson, I wasnt impressed with him either, but that lake wasnt fishing too good during the hottest part of the year. MLF could've at least put them on Dale Hollow when the waters colder so the smallmouth come to play. If theyre going to fish in the heat like that, at least move it to a river system where current is moving. I wasnt entertained by the lack of skill these guys have either.

I agree with ketchup that some things are better off "not said" or unprofessional. On the flipside, look at Tommy Biffle? Better yet, don't, no one needs to see those nutt-hugger shorts. LOL! He threatens everyone with verbal threats all the time. "Don't you fish my spot boy!" Point being, you can say things that could be perceived as threatening and they shouldn't be said. Especially not with a big smile on your face and laughing when you say it so it's clearly meant as a joke. Now in Watson's defense......if it were that one ref that is as cold as ice and has zero personality, I can't say as I blame him. I don't care for that ref either. Need marine repair? dtrs5kprs Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 You know the concept has made it when we are complaining about the refs. Anyone know when they were there? Would guess late May or June.
