Members txdave Posted January 22, 2016 Members Posted January 22, 2016 Wife and I are planning a trip to white river staying at Gastons. Looking to throw some jerk baits for the browns looking at size and color suggestions of baits. David
Members Ccox1982 Posted January 22, 2016 Members Posted January 22, 2016 When I'm chunking jerkbaits for browns, I like something in the 4-5 inch range. Black and white is always a good color. As well as black and gold. I've done well on rainbow trout Rapalas. White with purple bellys and black with red bellys have been my best choices for brown trout. With the flood gates open right now, I'd be chunking something mostly white. Might be some shad coming through the gates. I'm mainly a jig fisherman myself, but I still like to throw a big ole jerkbait here and there. Good luck.
BFTMASTER Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Hopefully JoeD will chime in. I have used Rapala CD-5 through CD-9 with some success, but I know the true stick bait guys have much better baits then that.

joeD Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 When are you planing on going? Water flow dictates jerkbait usage. And the willingness and commitment to throw all day.
Members derekburleson Posted January 25, 2016 Members Posted January 25, 2016 A chrome rogue with black back and orange belly has done well for me.

Seth Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 An HJ10 or HJ12 sized Husky jerk in Tennessee Shad or Silver Blue has always been one of my favorites on Taneycomo. They both have an orange belly and I'm just partial to anything with an orange belly when it comes to bass and trout. Terrierman 1

I had a lot of luck throwing that Silver Blue on Pomme de Terre a couple of years. Turns out they didn't care what color it was as long as the belly was orange. Seth 1
mjk86 Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I guess trout are more willing to eat cheap jerkbaits than bass, thats good. Bass have such expensive tastes in minnow imitations.
