Alex Heitman Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 I don't like what this guy is doing but I think he is within the rules with a trouble hook on the fly or whatever that is. You can use artificial lures in the blue ribbon section below the park. I often use jerkbaits in that area but never have any on a stringer and definitely not 2 since the limit is one. Makes me sick he keeps all of those nice Browns out of there. awhuber 1
10pointer Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 You are correct his "rig" might fall under the legal category...but I really don't believe for one second that 1/50th of those browns he catches eat that jig that he throws. From what I understand and have heard from plenty of people is that the jig is the beacon and Tad knows that treble is right behind it. All he has to do is line it up with the fish and set the hook into the side of its head or anywhere else on the body. Quite a few of the large browns hold pretty darn tight to the bottom most times and will hold their ground for the most part. Now if we are talking jerkbaits those Browns will hit those quite a bit I'd love to see him use something other than that but I guarantee he wouldn't snag the numbers that he does. jdmidwest Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Its artificial lures and flies only in the Blue Ribbon areas. No bait or soft plastics. NO Rules against trebles on artificial lures. Unless you get him on fish over limits, he does show 2 fish on 2 stringers, could be his and someone else. Claiming lunkers on something caught out of park may be fraud since he gets a patch as a reward may be against the law. Gavin Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Hate to see this. Dont mind if a fellow keeps one for dinner, but no need to keep more than one. Copied his pic and distributed. More eyes on him the better. AT&T phones work down there, down to Cedar but gets spotty after that. 10pointer 1
DainW Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I just saw a FB post that this guy was mentioned in from a taxidermy company featuring a big brown this guy caught and brought to them, and how it would go well with the other 20 or so that he has brought them. Even better. This dude isn't even eating these fish. Just killing them for the sake of killing them. Literally makes me sick to my stomach to think that this guy has to kill that many big fish to get a skin mount, when he could have just as easily gotten a fiberglass mount that would look good and last longer, with the added bonus of not having to kill the fish. fishinwrench Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I'm finding it a tad humorous that this one guy has just suddenly opened your eyes. People have been snagging or "accidentally foul hooking" big trout in clear water for as long as I can remember. Hell I've done it. Alot of times they just sit there and let you bounce flys off their noses. Stocker Trout are stupid, even the big ones. If an Eagle swooped down and nailed one you'd think that was the coolest thing you ever seen....and you'd wanna see it again and again. So really, what's the difference ? Snagging one with a fly is harder than pouncing on one from behind with a wicked set of meat hooks (talons). Why the lack of animosity for eagles and ospreys ?
