After feeling several rods in the $100 range I went with a 7' medium fast carbonlite.  Felt more balanced than some of the others and a smidge lighter... hope that means more feel on shaky heads etc.  Cant wait to use it

I would say if you got the 6-10 version (third down from the top) you'd have a pretty versatile set-up on which you could throw just about anything.

I just bought one last week and absolutely love it.  Thought I'd see if it was decent for the money and was shocked at how well the set up performed.

I think all of you guys will be happy with those set-ups. Hope you catch a ton of fish on them.

Wonder why the casting reels are so great but the spinning reels have problems?  That's odd.  Seems like spinning reels are so much simpler.

I wonder the same thing. Different production companies? I don't know but this is the second of three Lew's spinning reels that I've had issues with. I did get an over-the-counter replacement on the first one but I'm still pretty much done with them. I bought the $79 (middle price) version each time. Probably should've gone with the top-shelf reel but usually you get a pretty darn decent spinning reel for $79.

I have had the same issues went through 4 of the middle of the road ones and they all have there own problems two of them literally broke in half towards the reel seat. Finally i got the Team Lews Gold last year when it was on sale for half price. It seems to be much better quality. Time will tell
