mjk86 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 What did they do to the chug bug? I have a few rattling chug bugs that must be 20 or 30 years old...those things work very well for me, although hook upgrade is required..but thats true of all topwaters. Also, ive had great luck with xraps. Granted i dont do megabass baits, but xraps are as effective as a pointer, for a bit cheaper. Once again...needs new hooks.
Hunter53 Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 I didn't say anyone had to like it. I just saw something I had not seen before and posted it. Like anything; iffin Ya don't like it don't buy it and if you like it then buy it. Me personally; I seriously doubt I ever buy one of these. Champ188 1

Don't stop posting new baits because of the negative feedback on the lure, it was't personal. But ya, I won't buy any of these as I really so no difference at all in this vs a soft swimbait or hollow belly paddle tail rigged on a weedless jighead.
Hunter53 Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 I know nothing was personal. Even if it was I am pretty thick skinned. dan hufferd, dtrs5kprs and Champ188 3
dtrs5kprs Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I'll see if I can find a pic of the old vs. new chug bugs and thundersticks. Short version is they tinkered with both of those baits too, then brought back "originals".

I fish all kinds of stuff, like I am sure many others do, I am not stuck on brand nor do I hate one over the other, but I will say this, it is very hard for me to buy $10+ lures. I find myself buying Berkley hard baits, they seem to work, and the cost is high enough, like you said in that $4-$7 range. You know they are making 4 times their money on those things.

At this point every other company is knocking off baits from every other company, not alot of originality going on. They just use fancier terminal tackle double the price, like i said, every jerkbait is a knockoff of a rapala floater. That was probably thought of as gimmicky at one time. Id imagine that at one time folks probably though an A-Rig was gimmicky, same with giant swim baits. There is a weird distain for storm/rapala/ and bass pro shops that i dont really understand. For petes sake, there is a floating rat bait that costs 80 bucks or something, and its a jitterbug with a rubber worm glued to the back lol. Talk about gimmicky lol Someone buys that stupid thing? Nice thing is no one is forcing you to buy them. It's an evolution of sorts,. More options more tinkering leads to better baits. Even blatant copies will tweak a bait and each tweak could lead to better baits or not. dan hufferd 1
