mixermarkb Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 What was that about Bull being fickle? She won today. 7-3 in the local tourney out of TMR, no keeper bass, didn't catch the first short until nearly noon. I just sucked. Didn't help that all the places I was looking to fish either had a boat on them, or one headed to it or coming away from it. Tough, tough bite. Did have a 24" walleye though, so at least the wife is happy. hope Monday and Tuesday is better- dan hufferd 1
Ham Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 I never like seeing someone else where I want to fish or leaving as I pull up BUT you have to believe that you can catch fish behind other people and that not everyone is going to be fishing the way you are going to fish. i think we often fish behind other people without knowing it so it doesn't bother us AND I have no problem re-fishing an are because I know that I did not catch them all on the first pass. i fished a little finger of BSL Friday. We caught about 15 nice bass out of it. We fished some other areas and caught fish, but I decided to go re-fish that area (fish behind myself) and another boat was idling out as we came in. I caught my first fish before they even got even with us and another before they completely left the pocket. We caught about another 10 fish in that pocket before we moved to another area. I'm gonna guess they didn't hurt us too badly. I did hear the BSL was NOT in a giving mood yesterday. I hope she feels better about things by next Thursday. dan hufferd Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Walleye, was it in Missouri ? There's what I remember reading...something about some real nice bass and then 24" WALLEYE. Tell me more !
Bluff-Bassin Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Back in march I was fishing a derby out of BSBoat Dock I fished Gooley for a while and decided to run up towards theodosia because I wanted to fish the back of a small 10 acre cut. Just past the saddle north of Oakland a boat jumps up on plane and starts moving north so I get in behind. I follow him for 8-10 miles up the theodosia arm and wouldn't you know it pulls in the same cut and plops down right in the back exactly where I had hoped to fish. You hear the Elite Series anglers especially KVD talk about getting into a good "rotation" during the day. I guess that is what he means? Some days it seems like every spot I want to run to is wide open then other days well... I follow a dude 10 miles to watch him cover up my fishing hole. What'd it take to win the derby?
mixermarkb Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 18.8 was first, 14 was second, then it was way downhill from there. I think those were the only two limits-
mixermarkb Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 The walleye was on a gravel point in Arkansas-

Members alnt Posted April 6, 2016 Members Posted April 6, 2016 Fished this past weekend in theodosia arm, WT 55-58, stained to moderately clear water and lots of wind Here are a few more fish for you, though probably not the kind you were looking for in a tournament. I apologize a few of these pics may have been cut off - either my phone is acting up or the wind was really getting to me. One pic is a non-keeper double on a single crankbait, another with a big gill that also hit a crankbait. The other pic is the first yellow perch I have ever caught, but given the fact the he was apparently spawning maybe there will be more in my future. I did catch a couple of keeper black bass and one good size white in the morning, but they were about 25' deep on isolated rock which is not where most others were fishing. I had a much better weekend last week, but my success is always spotty at best so don't read much into that. Quillback, Ham, Rob P and 1 other 4
