On March 29 I watched the morning TV weather report and they said the rain and possible storms would be in the early evening. Decided to make a longer unto the Big Creek area. At noon, I commented to my partner that the shy was getting pretty dark. He checked the radar on his phone and said there is a storm about to be right on us and that we needed to find shelter. We tied up inside an empty dock stall and within minutes the head rain came and we had a couple of lightning strikes so close that it made the lights on the dock flicker. We were there for 2 1/2 hours. I called two of the other boats in our group about the impending storm, and because there were closer to our resort, they both made it back in time before the lightning hit there.in Michigan, we can see the storms coming about 30 minutes before they hit. Not that way on Table Rock.

The My Radar App is great.  Just radar, no ads or anything else that slows it down.  Pop it open and it's on.  The problem with most weather apps is all the stuff it loads before you get the important info.

Most of the time you can see a storm coming if you are watching.  Problem with me is I aint watching the sky I am fishing.  Still I usually have enough time to make it back to the ramp, because i am not far from it, almost never enough time to load up on trailer before getting drenched.  Rain no big deal, I keep extra clothes in truck, lightning very big deal I haven't got an extra life in there.  Have had to duck into a dock almost back to the ramp when you can see it coming across the lake, k owing you ain't gonna beat it.  Have set out a couple heavy hailstorms under a dock roof, they are loud!

Love that app.  It's what helps me decide if I wanna just find a dock and sit out a fast moving thunderhead, or call it a day and head for the ramp.

I'll never be good enough to get back to the ramp, get the boat loaded, and be inside the truck BEFORE it hits though.   That kinda skill doesn't kick in until the next life I guess.  I gotta stab the boat on the trailer in a 45mph gale with lightning snapping all around, and get completely soaked while strapping it on and stowing gear.
