Champ188 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 C4F, we had 3 keepers Saturday including a 3.5-pound SM that I was too stupid to go weigh in early when we could have won some money with it. We were sitting in the room Saturday evening, looked at each other and said, "You want to go home?" The mutual answer was yes so we packed up and headed back to Bella Vista. Pretty sure we would have donated our entry fee anyway, so this way we donated without having to fight the crowds. We have lost our fire for tournament fishing. Just sucks all the fun out of it for us anymore. I'm committed (and paid) to fish the Cops for Kids derby next month with a good friend from here on the forum, and I'm looking forward to that. Gonna practice hard and try to win it. But beyond that, my derby days may be behind me. 176champion, dtrs5kprs, Muddy Water and 6 others 9

It is sort of synonymous with "Redfin TIme". magicwormman 1

Hate stopping at 245 when they are eating it. Donna G 1

Those of us involved in sports in our younger days and in competitive business most of our lives probably have it worse than others, but partaking in an activity with a scorecard activates some part of my lizard brain and saps some of the joy & purpose of fishing. When I compete, I expect to perform well and am disappointed in myself when I do not. No way around it and no way to always perform well. I do not wish to associate fishing with disappointment and find I am not resilient (or willing?) enough to do both consistently. I admire those that are confident enough to share good information, especially those who make their living on this lake. we will also be at the C4K tourney, but only because it's a great cause and the boat drawing. *T* 1

I get the urge every once in a while, never enough to do anything about it though.
Alex Heitman Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 My dad and I fished the big bass on Saturday but did not get the big bite. I weighed in a 3.77 smallmouth and a 3.52 LM but no check. I weighed them in the wrong hours ha. We caught most of out fish in the first two hours and especially the first 30 minutes when it was below freezing. We had about 15-16 lbs with our best five. The bigger fish we caught came on a jerkbait and the others on a crank. I caught a 5 lb smallmouth the day before when we only fished for an hour lol. Then after the tournament on Saturday I caught another pig smallmouth. That's just the way it goes sometimes. I am only able to pattern smallmouth right now. The Blacks have eluded me.

It's just a shame you are only catching brown fish. I hope to feel your pain next week. Champ188 1
