Whats the weight???

I caught this fish Friday afternoon out of roaring river. I don't fish for trout very much so this is my biggest trout by a mile. 24" long and thick. For you guys that are more familiar with trout what would one like this weigh?

Nice one!   Nobody weighs trout, 24" is a lunker regardless of what it weighs.

Next time you catch a big one, measure the girth as well as the length. There is a formula, lengthxgirthxgirth/900= weight.

Nice fish! I'd guess  that its around 6lbs...I figure that 20"=4lbs & 22"= 5lbs unless the fish is exceptionally fat or  skinny.

Thanks guys. I was thinking in the 5-6lb range. I wish I could have got a good girth measurement(I just had a regular tape measure). We tried to measure take quick photos and get it back in the water. Jtram if that skinny run is out of the park and your willing to do some walking you might be right.....He will probably be right back in the same spot too.

My very good friend Larry Yadon caught a rainbow at Rim Shoals in the late 80's. His fish was 6 pounds when we weighed it. He had it mounted and it still hangs in his office. Your fish is as large and more colorfully marked. What a trophy!

That is a great trophy. I agree that its likely 5 to 6 lbs. If you had a good girth measurement that would make a great reproduction mount. The coloration is remarkable.
