Did you see hook and look today? Underwater with various Seaguar lines side by side to test visibility. 

Tatsu was the least visible, followed by clear Senshi mono. Green mono was surprisingly visible, with braids being the worst.

No disrespect to Ned here.

Small slow no added action finesse baits have been effective for a very long time. In the mid 70's I had a smallmouth on the line at Broken Bow. It hit a 4 inch Charlie Brewer slider worm on a slider head. I brought it to the boat on 6 lb line. I saw it. It had shoulders that made NFL linebackers envious. It went under the boat and away. I had my drag screwed down tight (as advised by Fishing Facts) and tried to back reel. The fish popped the line. Since then I have trusted my drag.

The point is Ned revived the interest in the method of careful precise presentation to neutral fish. The fact that it includes an indestructible plastic on a wireless head just makes it better.

BTW, I would love to see a comparison of Maxima 5 lb. to the 6 lb. flouorcarbons.

I would too. The mono to FC deal is interesting. I can catch fish just fine on 6# mono, but it breaks much more often. Obviously they aren't being turned off by it, but it's more of a performance thing.

If I stick the same jig in the same rock/tree and have to go to a straight pull to get it out, the mono will pop well before the FC will. Have just tried it too many times. Not just with the little rig, but way back to pre-Ned grubs, shakey heads, tubes.

I wish the 5# Maxima was a little easier find too. Not exactly like a dodo bird, but in there. And spendy too. Best I can find is from eBay, around $85/3K yards. I can get into 6# Invizx at $65/1K yds or so. About double that for 3K, but I believe the 3K yard spools are going away.

Had three trout centric anglers fishing Neds on a float last Friday. They only had ultralight spin tackle, so it worked well for them. They caught a lot of fish and a few quality fish to boot. Fished bigger stuff on casting gear all day and did not catch near their numbers. Near surface,surface bite was fair to good. It works all the time apparently, but I'd rather fish near the top when they are in an active mood. Dave's heads are great. We did not lose any, and only wore out 2-3 baits.

Have you tried to fish the hybrids like Yozuri or P-Line?

All kinds of fish: Smallmouth Bass, LMB, Spotted Bass, Ozark Bass, Shadow Bass, Rock Bass, Longear Sunfish, Green Sunfish, White Bass, Drum, Longnosed Gar, Channel Cat, Blue Cat, Flathead Cat, Redear Sunfish, Bluegill, Redfish, Flounder, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Croaker, Walleye, Sauger, Black Crappie, White Crappie, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Logpearch are fish I have caught or that have been caught with me in the boat. I know it would catch another dozen species that I can think of, but I haven't seen it happen yet.

 

I've got one additional (surprising) entry to add to that list. Caught a 25+ pound snapping turtle Saturday on the little guy. Yikes! I couldn't get my buddy to unhook it while I kept the line tight.  I had to sacrifice that one.
