There's not many rocks that float so I was just wondering. Jigs I can understand losing a few, but a topwater lure normally floats so even if it breaks off when you throw it you can still go get it. Blll Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Plug I hear ya. Pulled up quietly to my 1st point last week and watched a beaver, deer, chipmunk and cottonmouth before my first cast.

mixermarkb Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Given the size of the Plopper I can see casting one off if you didn't retie every so often. dtrs5kprs and Mitch f 2

I do not look at fishing as a competition. It is something in my sole that been there my entire life. Catching is not importnt either anymore. It s just being out thereoing it. I agree! Not a bad day of fishing! My ave was in the low 200's but when I moved down here it took a hit in the 180's. TR has been fun and I love it here to say the least. I would love to figure this lake out some!

But a plopper is a topwater lure isn't it? So you wouldn't really need to retie very often if the line never touches a rock, wood, debris or gravel, unless your rod guides are all chipped and damaged. I retie very often when fishing any other lure. But on topwater I don't check as often unless I'm catching fish with teeth or casting onto the bank with gravel/rocks.
fowlthing Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Lost all to fish. On first one thought my son did not tie on correctly. but it was bad line. Another one was on braid with a leader, tried a new knot for the leader,... fail. The third one I was throwing line too light into the 3lb whites and line got cut. I have bought more braid and will throw on heavier line next time. Basically a combination of too much excitement and bad judgement. LOL
fowlthing Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Part of the time was using 8 lb flouocarbon on a Stradic FK. Could cast a long way. I knew it was risky but it was producing. chi0082 and dtrs5kprs 2
fowlthing Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 My son made fun of the shorts as well. I borrowed them from a friend during the lightning delay. because i got hot. MOPanfisher 1
