At least this guy got a little more punishment. Still nothing too spectacular but at least more painful to the wallet than the guy that shot the black bear.

Yeah well when we gave the MDC pictures of a Chinese  guy bragging on FB with pics of multiple  Smallmouth and Largemouth as well as a few other species even on his Hawaiian sling he received a slap on the wrists. So sometimes they do good other times between the MDC and whatever  jurisdiction the offense  occurs  in it's like the 3 stooges.

I try to help the State  as much as I can and really kinda get off on getting  people  busted but, I also have some people  who want to beat my arse at best and I say F them bring it. Thank goodness  for the MDC otherwise there probably  wouldn't  even be any of your Squirrels and Deer even.

True, but I'm not willing to settle just for them. Not when it doesn't take much more for us to have a small but healthy amount of bears, puma and others sprinkled in as well (will make me think twice about field dressing a deer, and carrying it out after sunset, but what the hell, it's worth it I think). Ultimately, I'd like to see a bear or two here in the wild with my own eyes one of these years (just from enough of a distance and sufficient sunlight like previously mentioned). I think that would be a pretty cool sight.

I understand people not wanting to deal with bears. But it would make more sense if we didn't have things that could "get" you in the woods already. Mosquitos and ticks with variously awful diseases? Check. Wildly unpredictable weather that can lead to lighting strikes, tornadoes, and flash flooding? Check? Copperheads? Check? Rattlesnakes? Check. A recent, and highly unpleasant  encounter drove that point home with authority. Methheads with questionable agendas riding around your campsite at 2 AM in the middle of nowhere? Check.

Plenty of things can ruin your day in the Ozarks. It is not as "friendly" as you think. Even a fully functional population of black bears, which like to run away from you any chance they get, would be pretty far down the list of things I'd worry about.
