We are lucky to have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of stream miles to fish for smallmouth bass (in this case), ANYTIME we desire. Nitpick all you want, but we are fortunate that we have a dedicated state agency, MDC, looking after ALL of our interests, which is their job. Our streams are open for everyone, which is the way it should be. Plus, there are "managed" areas that benefit certain citizens who want something more, I don't know, 'special."   Regardless, I have no problem with jet boaters using Ozark streams. Or flotillas of canoes containing inebriated "adults."

Look at all the fish pictures and fishing reports on this forum. I would venture to say that most are positive. Obviously, big fish are being caught often. If not, people had a story to tell and felt good about going out to our wonderful streams. I agree that there are jet boat (or canoe or jon boat or inner tube) users that behave in a less than appropriate way. But those people are in the minority (although no consolation when one is in the middle of it). There is nothing to fix.

In sum, be happy to get out and fish just about anywhere you want. It is quite something to have that opportunity.  Hopefully, you won't run into "freedom."

I'm agreeing with you.  I'm equally disheartened by both sides. I can say the trash is about all I can take though I'm sick and tired of bottles on my property !   Idiots in jets? Oh yeah , that's a definite problem too.   River pros don't shoot rooster tails though. It takes a power trim system that doesn't really work on that type of boat setup   I'm thankful that 95% of the people that use the river are not fishing.

I am glad I seldom fish the bigger rivers, usually when I fish moving water it is pretty skinny, a canoe would be dragging a lot to get through them.  I have no problem with LE writing tickets for littering, in fact it is the one thing I wish they would write more of.  And yes if they were all fishermen, heck or even just fishing it would surely affect the fishery.  Every sport or enjoyable activity has its population of idiots doing there level best to ruin it for everyone.

Sad but true! Winter fishing is my time. Let's plan a trip this winter?

You mean you like winter fishing more than summertime thunderstorm fishing? And here I thought you were hardcore!

Hey, he's got a son who is apparently a fisherman.  I saw a picture of him with a big brown trout, caught somewhere in the East.
