Champ188 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Glad you're OK, L.D. And thanks for sharing the experience. Keeps us all cognizant of what can happen in a hurry out there.
Mitch f Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Even at 55 I'm well aware of the fact that I'm not what I used to be. I notice ever so slight lapses in mental clarity and confidence. I remember jumping off a pontoon boat in the middle of Table Rock a couple of years ago without a life jacket. We were all laughing and playing and the wind picked up and I started struggling to get back to the boat. I'll never do that again!? Champ188 1 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
MOPanfisher Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Heck at 50 I notice those things, being a non-swimmer I m not going in intentially without a pfd, and you would think that I would be better about wearing the thing all the time, running yep, fishing nope. The balance thing is big for me, one of the only things I ever had in my favor was balance and agility, but they go too, little things like stacking square bales on a trailer, one little bump and its down across the fender and a big bruise (both to body and pride) to carry for a while, I think the fabled wisdom in growing old is more about understanding the things you can't do any more due to time and changes. Browning Guy Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Once again our wives are there for us. Glad to hear everything is o.k. now. I've been fishing TR for 40 years now and have NEVER seen the tuna rig boats, wake board boats and general all around fools who run them like this year. This past weekend, had a wakeboard boat pass between our dock and no wake buoy TWICE. Our kids were on the dock fishing and my little girl fell and hurt her wrist when the waves hit the dock. Wish they would keep the stupidity and 40' boats on LOZ or the ocean where they belong. Thankfully you had a fishing partner with you to help out. Have been thinking of getting a inflatable vest for awhile now and your story will be sending me to the store. Thanks for sharing.

I was too cheap to buy one before but after dropping 70K on a new Ranger in March (did I say "cheap" - talk about a moron), two Mustang's were included in the purchase. Really no excuse not to wear a PFD all the time now. Unless of course you're worried about tan lines! Good luck with shopping. MOPanfisher Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Good choice Vernon. I would like to say I am too cheap, but with the price of some of the models being fairly cheap, at less than $100 and having some $$ on my BPS card, I have no good reason. I wear the mustangs anytime I am out in a boat at work, and after about a minute I simply forget they are there.

These days it's all about the SPF-rated jerseys, face-smothering buffs and those darling little sun gloves. No offense, QB. You and others with a history of skin cancer get a pass. I'm only picking on the Shaw Grigsby wannabes. big c 1

Apparently, the shock of getting two "free" Mustang's deluded my cognitive apparatus. A "brain short circuit" if you will! Had a guy at the dock ask me how much the Mustang's cost. I told him $70000. He had an incredulous look on his face and exclaimed, "WHAT?" I then told him, "It's really not as bad a deal as it sounds. In fact, if you buy the two PFD's for 70K they throw in a Z521 with motor!" I'll be here all week. Be sure and try the veal. Daryk Campbell Sr, Champ188 and dtrs5kprs 3 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Browning Guy Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Vernon, $70,000 on a 521? They only quoted me $69,300. No PFD's, but not $70,000 either!!!! RockChalk by the way. Spent many semi-lucent Saturday mornings at Naismith, Oliver, Ellsworth and some studying as a student. $85 for student season tickets to Basketball and Football when I went. Yes, KU had/has a football team for those who didn't know. Bought two Mustangs last night after reading your post. Now if I can just get my wife to fish with me again. Will have a new 521 before I retire. Was down there a month ago watching them build one. They're nice. Congrats. Champ188 and dtrs5kprs 2
