Today i wnt to my favorite fly shop plateau. They were awesome as usual. Upon leaving a big truck pulled up next to my wifes cadillac cts. I got in the drivers side as she doesnt like driving in springfield, after closing my door i hear an ungodly thump. My wife opens her door an gets Out. The man in the truck had just doored her car really hard. I got out to make sure she was ok and the man began by saying" what"? I said you hit her caR with your door. He replied "its a parking lot." Then proceed to go back to nearly hitting it again to which i responded that he needed to be careful. He said his truck was new and he would never own that car. I simply stated that he should be more careful that others actually value there things and take care of them. He then said you should park better. He was on the line we were within ours. I just said please be more careful and we left. My wife was scared of the guy and how rude and unappolagetic he was. The guys is lucky he didt encounter someone less level headed. Very rude. His license read ... g'etr l8tr.. red ext cab ford with tons of door dings and scratches so watch that you dont park near that guy.

Do you think the guy did it on purpose because he thought you parked too close to the line and thought he would get you back?

That could be one reason Mitch. But then again he might have done it because he driving  driving a Caddy CTS. Would not surprise me in this world today.

It still should have been reported to the police right then and there. There is such a thing as verble assault. if he frightened the wife he could be arrested for it. Sounds o me like they were both pretty scared of the guy.

Sounds like a guy with a truck with lots of door dings has done this kind of thing before and wouldn't think twice about being a jerk. Maybe he thought he was cool in front of his friend. Maybe that statement that he would never own a car like that meant he was looking to get paybacks....who knows. He's a jerk anyway and sounds like a young kid.

A kid on Manchester road almost T Boned my daughter and I after he was racing another new Charger like his. He went around me and turned back in my lane very quickly, almost clipping my front bumper to show me what he thought. He then floored it and got up to about 90 then had to lock the tires up because he almost nailed a guy making a left in front of him. He turned into his subdivision after that and I followed him to find out where he lived. I rolled down the window and told him he better learn how to drive. He told me I pulled out in front of him. I drove away thinking I would call the police later and tell them the story. I really think the Ballwin police would pay him a visit if I called.

Trust me. I have had an accident in a parking lot. They don't get involved.

I would, except I've been in the same exact situation and they have. So I suppose it depends on the situation whether anything happens, but the idea that police can't or won't ever respond to situations like that is one that conflicts with what I know.

I do believe sometimes people choose not to do their jobs. That sounds like the case in your situation, which sucks. If nothing else figuring out the insurance implications (even in a perfectly innocent situation) is often way easier with a police report.

It also may depend upon whether you are talking ding/fender bender or major collision.  Some jurisdictions also treat them differently, depending upon injuries etc.

They responded but no police report. Just made sure everything was cordial. But again no police report, no ticket. So when it came to it with insurance companies it was my word against his.

And this was a major collision in a parking lot in Jeff City.

Springfield police don't even respond to minor accidents on city streets anymore. You have to go to the police station to file the report. I had a car stolen last December, they didn't even respond to that.
