So, a few weeks ago we went to the Flint Hills Rodeo in Strong City, KS. Now, out there are REAL men. Not the soft-skinned, pasty-white city types that surround me.   So we'd fit in better, I picked up a couple beers:

Also a preemptive pain reliever for the inevitable headache which was to follow.

This dude was tougher than me, as evidenced by his ride:

I had a string of craft beer success tonight.  Won't upload my Tallgrass brewery Manhattan KS Key Lime Pie photo.  Doozie though. Get it if you see it.

All were good.  The cucumber saison and the watermelon kolsch I probably won't target again.

The others are definitely on my frequent flyer list

I was in Manhattan, KS ( the "Little Apple") the other day and saw that. Frankly it just sounded wierd but maybe I'll give it a try sometime.

Went out to Prairie Fire Winery in the Flint Hills near Paxico, KS for the release of their 2015 Frontenac. They do a nice job with all their wines, but the Frontenac is especially good. Nice, light-bodied red. Also do a nice Traminette which is a German-style white.

Ever since I stopped traveling for rugby meetings I have not hung around with Bill Sexton, a rugby mate and professor in Kirksville. Bill is a home brewer and we fell into the habit of alternating places to eat in cities we visited. One time he would research brew pubs and pick one. The next I would find a wine bistro. My beer education, especially with brews created since 1995, is poor. I tend to do things like buy a six pack of mixed beers from Boulevard or Shiner. Had one from Shiner this evening I had not had. Strawberry Blonde. I am sure most of you know it, but if not I found it very refreshing when I came off the lake.

anyone tried Crane Brewing yet?

I have tried the Tea Weiss, and  Apricot Weiss both are very good!!

Crane is 1of my absolute favorites.  Their Beet Weiss is incredible as well.  Everyone I have from their brewery has been very friendly, very knowledgeable, not snobby like many in their craft and most important love their jobs.

I wish more people did what makes them happy.  Too many crabby people in this world.
