MOPanfisher Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Man you take a couple days off to catch some fish, come down with a sinus cold during that time, have to sleep in a recliner while coughing yourself silly. thinking at least I have a couple days to rest. Negative, just before 7 am I hear my wife's .243 bark one time, I know what that means. Big bodied mature 7 pt, she waited for one of the other deer to give her a chance to tag out but didn't happen. text said, please come get deer, I have a hair appointment in a couple hours. now I have to go skin and debone him since it's not gonna be cold, and she still.has another tag! MOPanfisher Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 Had to post this young man and his deer as well. I took him as a youth, and was setting beside him when he shot his first deer, a very fat spike buck with my little NEF Handi Rifle loaded with 60 grain Nosler Partitions, sinice then he has taken a couple more, bigger than any I have killed in years, all with that same boring little rifle. One shot no more heart or lungs. He has his step dad to take him now, but I still sort of claim him. nomolites, Seth, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4
MOPanfisher Posted November 13, 2016 Author Posted November 13, 2016 And now wife is tagged out. she saw another buck about the twin of the one she killed yesterday evening, but no antler less that gave her a shot. this morning after a looong night for me still fighting the head cold or what the heck ever it is, she goes down and kapows a dog sized doe, sure was a lot easier to skin and quarter, even if she didn't make nearly as good a shot on it. both boned out and chilling in ice, awaiting the deep freeze. Seth Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 You all are having a good season! My buddy and I hunted together Saturday morning. We doubled on does and he also shot a 2.5 year old 7 pointer and all before 8am. Dad went with me yesterday evening and he shot a nice doe as well. I passed several 2.5 - 3.5 year old bucks this weekend as well. Since I got a good buck with my bow and have all the venison that we'll eat till next season, I'm going to be very picky with my rifle tag. I won't shoot another doe from this spot, but I do have another doe tag I can fill and I will try to do so on one of the two other properties that we can hunt. Neither have had any does harvested off of it yet this year. JestersHK, Johnsfolly, MOPanfisher and 1 other 4
MOPanfisher Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 I haven't even hunted yet, but will start spending some time in the stand. Don't know if I will shoot one or not. came home last night from visiting with friends and there was a VERY nice buck in our yard eating acorns.
Johnsfolly Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 MOPanfisher Congrats to your wife! Good luck when you do get out on the stand. Seth Great job filling the freezer. I hope you find one better than your bow kill. Seth 1
MOPanfisher Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 Dang deer trying their best to ruin a perfectly good hunt. Had enough energy tp walk down to wifes stand, 7 does hanging around, got lucky and they moved off into the woods befor I got completely to stand. Had a very nice evenine sitting there enjoying my view of nature. Looked up and here came "limpy" a young 8 pt. my wife nicknamed yesterday. he wandered around for a while, then I decided to play some buck grunting noises for him. at first he ignored them, then decided to jump the fence and head toward me. whoops, didnt think hat all the way through, he got within about 30 yards, and then hung around for a while, had to wait till full dark to slip away. the walk back up the hill was not as enjoyable as going down had been, only had one coughing fit on way out. beautiful evening. Don't know if the video will load or not, and no clue where the music came from, phone did it I guess. Video1114.mp4
MOPanfisher Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 What a beautiful, quiet evening, if a little warm to hang out in a deer blind.
