96 CHAMP Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I see today that the state of Mo. Is paying 9 million to settle the drowning of Brandon Ellingson. The state really screwed up in his death, they never should have combined the two units, at least the family can get some closure finally
fishinwrench Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Everything would have gone more proper if they had just admitted to the screw up and fired the officer.....instead of coercing coroner's, prosecutors, investigators, dispatch personnel, lab technicians, and fellow officers to aid in the cover-up. For some reason they were scared to hold the trooper, who caused it all, accountable. Maybe they owed him a favor? trythisonemv and Riverwhy 2
96 CHAMP Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 That's our hard earned tax dollars that paid for that settlement, just so they could save money & combine the two departments. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
Old plug Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Well the state paid but that smart a-- little officiers has not yet. He will. He was not liked in this community all the way back to when he was a cop in Laurie. Real superior acting smart mouth type.
rps Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 First, I am sad the man died. He may have deserved reprimand or punishment, but he did not receive justice. Second, I am glad the state ultimately acknowledged their responsibility by paying dollars. Although I am sure the settlement agreement says the state admits no error, millions of dollars say otherwise. Third, I would bet the family would trade the money for the man back alive. Fourth, do any of you realize that what is called "tort reform" would have changed this equation to the benefit of the perpetrators?

"tort reform" is the socially acceptable way of saying certain people - usually doctors, politicians, and public servants - do not need to compensate for pain and suffering or punitive damages. In other words, the cost of a human life is less if the killer is a doctor, politician, or a city. The real beneficiary of these laws are the insurance companies. grizwilson 1

Wow, this statement certainly wouldn't be considered one-sided. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
