Donna, I have to admit I looked at the weather at 7am and noticed that it did not get as warm as it was supposed to so I chickened out. That is the nice thing about now being retired, I can be more selective when I go fishing. This morning was one of those times when I said, Hmmmm...do I really want to go or should I do something else? I opted for something else. But I tip my Yellow OAF hat to you and Champ for going. Sounds like it was worthwhile for you today.

Donna and Champ are my new heros! I just can't get motivated enough to fish these conditions. I guess it's part of getting old. Glad you made it home safely

Glad to hear ya'll made it home OK.

Thanks, Jeff.  It was pretty intense, particularly pulling the boat.  James is a very skilled and careful driver, though.  I feel safe with him at the wheel.  It'd have to be some yahoo getting stupid and running in to us to cause a mishap, which I remind him of frequently when he tries to reassure me.  It's the other guy / gal that scares me.  We have to travel through some narrow, winding, hilly areas between the lake and home.

I have not been getting out as much as I would like. Maybe that will get better eventually

I can be pretty demotivated, too, when the weather's foul, but the last couple of trips haven't been very productive and I honestly thought we'd tear 'em up with the cold front moving in and I wanted some of that.  We did end up with 14 and a high percentage of keepers, but it still wasn't the trip we were hoping for.  I caught the first fish, a keeper LM, in sight of the ramp on our first stop.  I really thought it was a sign.  lol

As Jeff Foxworthy would say, "I are old."  62 in May.  Kinda enjoying "laptop" fishing today looking at the snow on the ground.

If I lived in Mountain Home, I'd be on Bull Shoals every chance I got.  I love that lake.  We've thought of retiring there, but since we are perennially poor folk and will likely have to work until we die, I don't know that will happen.

Keep one thing in mind....................God has put us all on this earth for x number of days! For every day that you fish, you will live one week longer. Plus the cost of living on the Bull and the Rock is much cheaper than Bella Vista. I was blessed to have the opportunity to retire at age 51 and it was the best decision that I've ever made. Been retired for almost 20 years. and loving ever minute of it.

Champ, nice pics. That picture should be posted every time someone says fish don't eat baits that big. I'm gonna tie on one of those river2sea swimbaits next time I get out.  Like I told Donna, I tip my hat to you both for braving the conditions.

I assume I'll work until I die. If I'm lucky, I'll  only work a half day on the day I die.

keep in mind that if you lived in MH, you'd have to decide btw BSL and Norfork. I've caught em good both places and sometimes the bite is much better on Norfork.

Plus Champ could fish Stripers on Norfork which I know he'd be excited by.
