I go thru jig trailers pretty fast so I simply wouldn't bother using anything that required that much maintenance.

A senko cut down works well on a jig as low profile trailer.

Ebay is always a good source of finding discontinued baits. Sometimes you have to pay the piper for them (Pre Rap Warts, Excalibur One Knockers, Risto Raps, Bagley's, etc) but sometimes the lesser known or sought after stuff you can get at great prices.
