Donna G Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Thanks for sharing. It was good to be out. We had to work hard for our small catch and fight the wind all day. Didn't land any cedar trees, though. big c and magicwormman 2 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915

abkeenan Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Was watching Day 2 of the BASS Elites live online Friday morning when they were following Cliff "Cajun Baby" Crochet. He set the hook and broke off. At least he admitted it to the camera that is was probably a rock but it felt like it could have been a bite so he swung. Makes me a feel a little bit better about myself when I slam home a hookset.....dead into a tree or dock cable. Happens to the best of them. Let'er rip and ask questions later. Champ188 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 Costs absolutely nothing to set the hook. Well, except maybe a lost lure. Donna G, abkeenan, Dewayne French and 1 other 4
big c Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 Oh yes, I'm not afraid to set the hook!!! Can't remember the last time i had one jump in boat without it. Well....i did fish a tournament on the Mississippi a couple years ago and had flying carp thing that about did. Anyway, not here......take care all! Donna G and Champ188 2

For sure, and I've missed a few big fish in my life because I was a little unsure if it was a bite and didn't give them a good sticking. My philosophy now is to hammer 'em, especially when jig fishing. abkeenan, Donna G and big c 3
Dewayne French Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 This will probably start a feud, but there are a lot of times when we feel (THE BITE) it is actually the fish spitting the hook/lure back out and we set when we feel the lure hitting a rock or other hard structure as the lure comes out of the fishes mouth. It is amazing to watch under water video (not slowed down) of how fast they can inhale a lure with all that water and spit the lure back out and we never know we had a bite. I'm amazed at how much water a large bass inhales with the lure each time. Oh and yes I have caught my fair share of limbs, sticks, tress, chairs, docks cables, and rocks. When those dang keeper limb-bass start swimming sideways with my lure man I can go on point.. HA HA shark bait, Donna G, dtrs5kprs and 2 others 5
