I used to do that with the Loctite blue bottle (ned) glue. It works great but the more I thought about it, probably not a good idea as that is not it's intended purpose to be used on skin. My skin is already dried out and split so in the end might make matters worse after the quick fix.

Curious what ol' Sam Drucker might recommend when it comes to Super Glue for Super Cuts on people hands?

I've tried pretty much everything with equally mediocre results.  Usually end up just gluing one of my finger tips to my palm or pants pocket and make the cut worse when I pry myself loose from myself.

Do you have a jar of my homemade "pink stuff?"

I do not. I will gladly trade you either a jersey or choice of Buff for some though.

Nah, I'll take a buff.  I'm not that far behind abkeenan and ahead of a bunch.  I like my chances.  ?. I'll bring you a jar.  Can you use cortisone?

Donna,

I have eczema and it just rotates from hand to hand and from finger tip to finger tip. To say that over the last 5 years it has driven absolutely insane is an understatement. During the cold months it becomes 10x worse. What I have been using lately is that liquid bandage stuff. It dries fast and works pretty good to seal up split skin. Working okay for me.

I've had eczema on my hands and ankle for many years. I believe I turned Donna on to super glue for the painful splits on her hands. Somehow I've manage to heal my hands, due to a steroid cream and several other creams. I still suffer with my ankle and it's a continuous battle. I will get it almost totally healed and than it breaks out with vengeance. I just heard about a new product for eczema, that is due to be on the market this year. It is called dupilumab and in test cases it has totally eliminate eczema. That will be a blessing from GOD if it lives up to the expectations.

If you ever go to Harbor Freight, they have the best gel super glue in the world.  It comes in a 10 pack card  I think for $3.99  A few weeks ago, I had a big discount coupon and bought 5 ten pack cards for $10.00 total, including tax.  I should be stuck for the Summer now.

Bill, how could you keep this such a secret for soooo long? you are so willing to share your fishing knowledge, I find it hard to believe you kept the super glue secret to yourself. All us OLD retired guys have been buying the blue bottle gel that cost about $4.00 a pop and it dries up after about three applications.

Really comes down to moisturizing ahead of time, and regularly, which I hate. Variety of products will do that.

Zim's Crack Cream is pretty good at preventing and treating the splits. The liquid bandage products are a much better choice than super glue in a pinch. They won't really help heal a split, but will get you functional in a safer way than glue.

I use the liquid deals, but try to get them picked/scrubbed loose, then fill the split with triple antibiotic at night, and cover like any other open cut.
