MOPanfisher Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 BTW I am an oddball, I cannot catch a dadgum fish on a jerkbait. I could fish it till I fell over from exhaustion and not have a fish. So I fish jigs, all my fish have been caught on jigs, I love the feel of the "whack". I know that a big part of my inability to catch fish on a jerkbait is simply my mental attitude toward them, I don't have any confidence in them so after 10 minutes I cuss them and pick up my jig rod, which I can fish while sitting down, talking, etc. and not think about it, and I have confidence in it. thus I fish it differently and 10 times as long as anything else so I catch more fish on it. doesn't make it good or right its just how it is for me. mikeak and dan hufferd 2
Smithvillesteve Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Nice eye lmtout!! Couple of questions for you. 1) Walleye do not spawn in Stockton Lake right? But i have heard that they will go through the motions. Run up rivers this time of year. Is this correct? 2) Thinking of going this weekend. Heard good chance of rain and some wind but I'm thinking that could be a good thing. Any advice? My buddy likes to troll whereas I have been more of a jig/crawler guy. I see a guy caught a nice one on a spoon. What about a jerkbait on main lake points? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
dan hufferd Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Very nice to both. I have been down with the crud.

Hope you get feeling better. Thank you buddy, I have dodged it for a while, I keep saying and thinking, "I'm not getting it ", I guess pride comes before the fall. I think I am on the other side of it now. There are some really good fish being caught, have you noticed the increase in size? I myself seem to find more 20" fish. I think that is great for a little stocked pond in SW Mo. I am still looking for my 30" walleye. I know you got very close to that in the summer. Johnsfolly and rps 2

I have lived on TR for 15 years now. In that time I have one 29" beast that did not make 10 pounds, one 30" unexpected fish that hit 10 pounds even, and one 32.5 fish that almost made 14 pounds. Fish like these are more than want. They are want + effort + random chaos odds. Yours will come. dan hufferd and bfishn 2

But I am not sure about that. As for advice. I haven't been down in over a month. If I was going to go I would try everything. I am not a crank troller but bottom bouncing spinners and maybe jig and crawler or minnow. Maybe even pitching jigs toward the banks or jerk bait. Sorry didn't narrow it down much for you. Some other guys On here have been posting nice limits. I plan on doing my best to figure it out over the next month. Hope you had a good winter.
