Basfis Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Thanks. I recently re powered with a rebuilt series 2. Got conflicting break in info from the dealer. Double oil/no double oil. Near as I can tell, and per manual, no double oil. Was curious what hydrotec suggested.
Sore Thumbs Posted April 14, 2017 Author Posted April 14, 2017 Nothing about double oil! That would clog your fuel injectors and filters. Causing motor to fail again.

If the cylinders do not receive lubrication via the injectors (fuel supply) then clogged fuel injectors will not damage the engine. Sore Thumbs 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Probably needs some new plugs after a few hours of double oiling
Sore Thumbs Posted April 14, 2017 Author Posted April 14, 2017 My bad wrench. I'm no mechanic. I thought if injectors were clogged it could starve cylinders of fuel causing them to get too hot.

Anyway, it would take way more than a 25:1 oil ratio to clog an injector. DFI outboards receive lubrication directly to the cylinders (via ports) and/or directly through the intake manifold, so friction heat isn't an issue. So what did they determine caused your original powerhead to fail ? Sore Thumbs 1
Old plug Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 I know nothing about motors but do know a tiny bit about fuel from experience. You said it was in the shop for a month what grade fuel was in that tank during that period and the line leading to the tank.

Pistons not made of durable materials or fuel delivery. Most motors they replace have between 2-300 hrs. Mine had 279. I think the issues were fixed in Series 2. Not sure though
