dtrs5kprs Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 So, first day off the boat toter. Only things that broke were one braid-fc leader and my sunglasses strap. Good start. Fishing was, well, scary. Decent limit by 930ish. Full keeper slam by 10 am. Hard one was the spot. Go figure. Three keeper meanies total. Tried to stop counting keepers at 15, then hit 2 more back to back and gave up. That was around 230, fished till 445 or so with no drop off. Water 65-68 or so, colored up. Pretty shallow bite. Best one was a 19 & 1/2" black. If it didn't rhyme with bread, or something... Got a little touchy with the sun, but they didn't move. Just hunkered down and bite got softer. Keying on little features, and not avoiding rock snot at all. The jaws are just an immovable force when you pop them. motoman, Joenothum, Alby Fish and 27 others 30
Nitro 750 Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Well done Dave, nice fish, thanks for the report.

Members Joenothum Posted April 19, 2017 Members Posted April 19, 2017 The struggle is real this time of year, catch a mess of fish or chase the thunder chickens....hmm Ham and Champ188 2

m&m Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Dave, welcome back. Looks like those fish really hated your lure. I agree that Saturday's weather looks challenging. Should be a fun time. Mike
Macsimus Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Amazed at how hard some of those 13-14" smallies are pulling. It's like they're on PEDs. Glad you had a good day. I trust the shoulder is recovered and cooperating? "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
abkeenan Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Good deal Dave. Nice report. What, no Duke championship banners flapping off the back of the cowling of the Ranger? No sporting of a Bobby Hurley, Christian Laettner, Grant Hill, Mike Dunleavy or Shane Battier fishing jersey? Some fan you ARE..... Champ188, vernon and magicwormman 3
