I knew I had weather moving in this morning, but I was determined to get a quick trip in anyway. I'm frustrated by the weather situation, but I've just been inconvienced. I feel a little silly complaining  about the weather considering the massive difficulties that some are dealing with.

I spooled up the two new President 6930's that Pete told us about. I put 6 lb Nano on both. One with White and one with Chartreuse. 4 lb leader on the White and 6 lb on the Chartreuse . It took longer than I wanted, but I should be good for a over a year of hard fishing.

3000 or so CFS. Water was stained with lots of trash. More wind that I wanted. I was getting blown upstream at times.

Cloudy weather had the Browns playing pretty good. I'm going to try to get a personal best this year. It won't take much. I don't think i ve ever caught one > 23 inches.

My second fish of the day was a 21 inch Brown. It really fought well. It lept clear of the water 5 times. Several really nice runs.

Most of my Rainbows were either really close to the bank or mid river riffles.

I got 25 to the boat in less than three hours. Lighting ran me off the water.

I would suggest fishing further up river. I would have if weather had not been an issue.

Well.... river is blown out BROWN again this morning. I'm fairly convinced these conditions are not at all helpful for the fish.

Weather is sooo crappy today. I'm off and you would have to pay me $1000 to go get in a boat and go fish. Only $500 to get me to wade fish though.

Thanks for the report!!

Two  guys from Michigan coming down to fish with me next Sunday through Friday they are brand new to fly fishing, hoped to get them in their waders but the chances of that are slim, but happy to get my Supreme back on the river. We will be staying just upstream of Cotter at His Place Resort and fishing upstream from there, sounds like the river, barring any more rain, or the COE opening the flood gates on Bull will be in pretty good shape. Hopefully  they will hold the generation back for a few more days. I think they will have to. But we will all have spinning gear also. Will post some reports next week.

Also heard there is a bridge out on Denton Ferry Rd, South (I think) of Wildcat is there any truth to that??

That is my understanding

Some Caddis coming off. I didn't see Trout taking the adults.

The fish were midging like all get out in a back eddy I found. That would be fun with an emergent or soft hackle.

Remember you can always use the boat to access areas to wade just make sure you have the app for your phone and know what they are doing with the water.

My three best areas could have all been fished on foot once you got to them with the boat.

I hope y'all catch the fool out of them. It may fish a little harder than usual, but you should all catch fish

Yes I have the app and wil definitely keep one eye on the flows.

I was hoping we could find some spots to land the boat and wade.

Thanks again!!

Just got off the phone with Dally's, they said water clarity was good and the fishing was about the same. They did mention some mud lines were present.  Projecting 1-2 units until Newport gauge/Mississippi goes down however I think the M is looking to crest this weekend. Could be only 1-2 generators on for a few weeks?

We are coming over on Sunday. Gunna try out my new Airstream rod spooled with 6lb Nano, don't have any Zig Jigs though... Have 10 dozen on order but I'll just have to swing back buy to try'em out. Thanks for the reco on that Ham, I need all the help I can get...

You can buy the Zig Jigs at Harps but they are more expensive in the 3 pack.

I hope you love the Air Stream/Nano combo as much as I do. It's a great set up.

I wish I could give you an on the water demo, but I have to work thru Monday. I apparently am a better teacher than learner because everyone I show the Zig Jigs to catches them better than I did when I was just starting out.

remember, throw the Jig slightly downstream and they snag a lot less.

God Bless and Good Fishing
