There's three nice lakes they could do there.  Hamilton, DeGray, and Ouchita.

Ouchita maybe? I'd like to see them fish that lake, not an easy one from what I understand.

It's been a long time since I fished Ouachita, but it was a whack fest when I was last there. AND I was told I should have been there the week before When the fishing was good.

Never fished it myself, but was told that some government agency introduced a non-native fly  that ate the grass in the lake, ate it all.  Once the grass was gone the fishing went downhill.  Saw the AGFC call-in show just a few weeks ago, AGFC says that the grass it starting to recover.

Never been to any of the lakes mentioned. We went to Beaver once last year. It was windy, cold, didnt get a bite.  I figured it must have been an Arkansas lake thing, so now i stay away.

MLF starting at this current tournament, implemented a few new changes.  Instead of a 15 minute ride around, its now 30. Now instead of 12" fish, they must now weigh 1 pound instead of 12".  Breshears stated that should keep the bank beaters off the bank to catch better fish.  Huh?  Thats where the 1 pounders live, duh.  Trust me i catch alot of them beating the bank.

Also instead of 6 anglers each segment, there will be 8.

Saw lots of wrapped trucks heading that way yesterday. Ouachita is tough right now...very muddy. But if it clears up and stays high it could be a slug fest.

Theres also two other smaller lakes that don't get much attention but can be outstanding at times. Lake Catherine which is below Hamilton and Lake Greeson

I have fished Hamilton a few times.  Tough lake.  Top end is a cold water discharge lake the supports trout over half of the year.  Lower end is typical warm water fishery.  But every bit of the banks are developed almost.  And during the summer it is a ski fest.

That being said, the trout can be fun when they are there.  And you can catch some fish as long as your are there before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.
