MOPanfisher Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 Gentlemen (and ladies too), I find myself in need of a few prayers, oddly not for me for my elderly mother. A few weeks ago she developed a case of shingkes, the treatment went fairly well, but has had a relapse for lack of a better term. Lots of pain and a second round of meds, which leave her wobbly and somewhat disoriented. Sadly the decline has been ongoing for a while, has been extremble painful to watch the mental (and physical) decline of a person who was a highly skilled RN surgical nurse, taught math and on any given day could work me into the ground, fix supper and help with homework. Forgetting things she has known all her life like how to knit or take her medications. My wife is currently out of the country and my sister (also an RN) is here helping out as I am not a very good care giver. However she is still as stubborn as ever, trying to talk her into moving downstairs into one of my kids own room where she would be one a single level, no stairs, her own bathroom etc. but so far no luck there. So any prayers for healing, wisdom etc. would be greatly appreciated as we figure out the best path forward for her. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

RSBreth Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Thankfully my mother and my family had a plan - but it doesn't make it any less painful. Prayers. MOPanfisher 1
ness Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Will do. What's your mom's first name? Only wisdom I can give is do what the doctor says, and if you've got questions or concerns be your mother's advocate and get the answers. I think with any elderly patient it's critical to not allow additional complications. So take it easy, minimize potential additional problems (like falls, infections, etc.) Good luck, and please keep us posted. MOPanfisher 1 John
MOPanfisher Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 Her name is Mary. Things are a little better, some of the meds are working, and some are kicking her butt. However at least she is up around right now. Getting the meds at the right time is tough, she gets confused easily, am going to try putting them in envelopes with the times to take them on the front. My wife will be home in a couple days so that will help as well. I truly appreciate everyone's bought and prayers, some days I can almost feel a calming hand on my shoulder telling me to calm down and relax. ness 1
