Table Rock Buoy Removal and Massive Boat Wakes

While I know this doesn't fit the narrative of "Johnny bashing" I still happen to think that the facts matter.

I don't think Johnny was "more" worried about trout than people.  He just didn't realize the magnitude of the event at the time of the conversation. 

This is the full quote from the article - judge for yourself.

“As much as I sound like I’m complaining, I’m thankful that everyone was out of here because Johnny (Morris) called and was asking if we were going to lose our trout – we always talk about this when floods come – I said ‘John, this is different from anything we’ve seen. I’ve been here since you opened ... I’m trying to make sure we don’t lose people ... It’s that bad.’”

Our dock has been on the lake for 40 or 50 years, and it has never received more or bigger boat wakes than it has this Summer.  It is a ways back in a cove, protected on three sides, and only gets waves when the wind is from the northeast (not very often).

The huge wakes are coming from boats going round and round and round, just outside the first no-wake buoy.  One huge wake wave after another, pounding and pounding.

It certainly won't get better when that no-wake buoy is gone.

Would it not be great to just remove every private dock from Table Rock. I think that would pretty much end the fussing.  By the way I am a dock owner and would cheer the day they said to get it out of the water.  It is no more than a hole in the water to throw money into.  We have 2 slips and use neither.  They are in a trust so there is really nothing I can do about them.   Other than hate them.

I could not agree more.  I was down to work on a few things and thought I might fish early and late, WRONG!!!  As soon as the sun broke they were racing WFO on the lower end(and I expect elsewhere) wide open sometimes 4 wide without much regard for safety or the level of noise and time of day.  There was much more $$$ in play on side bets than ever in the races, I guarantee.  They were doing the same in the evenings with all the other boat traffic out there to magnify the hazards.  I have never, ever, seen the lake infested with so many complete idiots in all my years ... I am thinking It may be time to for a change.

 I am about to pull the lug on living down here on LOZ.  Every year after they drop the lake I have concrete repair on my sea wall. At 80 years old it is not as easy. I have given up on the idea of any improvement to the condition here. I am thinking about going back to bank fishing tail waters of Dams.
