Browning Guy Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 8Pounder..... yep x 2. Can't help but think of the movie Caddy Shack. Rodney Dangerfield's character (Al Czervik) vs. the other smug, rich guy played by Ted Knight (Judge Elihu Smails). Al comes flying up to the dock in a massive cruiser meant for the ocean/great lakes where the Judge has his small sail boat docked. Al throwing huge waves all the while, jet skiers crashing, fisherman has to bail out of his boat, and those on the dock get thrown off as the arrogant rich Al pays no attention to the damage and chaos he's caused. Tablerock..... the new Caddy Shack with lots of Al like folks running their boats causing damage and chaos. Sad that it's allowed and few care to try to change what's "going to happen" ("per the Corps"). Wonder how many accidents there were so far this season on TR and what the causes were? Anyone have stats or source? skeeter 1

Anyone have stats or source? Water Patrol site has that info ( I know someone has posted a link to the accident reports before). There are A LOT of accidents, almost daily, that don't make it into the media. Most are minor injuries from falling out of boats, or out of tubes. Some minor collisons. If there were no serious injuries or fatalities, the media doesn't usually report it.
bobby b. Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Article in today's newspaper quotes from COE implys that SMP regarding buoys and solar power will be revised due to numerous comments. Can it be that the masses have been heard (me being positive) or will be change for the worst. (negative me). I've attached the article - it might be hard to see though. magicwormman 1
176champion Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 As far as the solar power goes..120 volts is 120 volts whether it be solar or other wise...so i dont understand that..guess im just stupid... I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips

If your comment relates to safety, although I'm against the solar proposal, I've come to think that there is some increased safety in solar power as the earth ground is eliminated; however, there are devices available now that can detect the stray current and even stop it's source.

But not a word about the massive boat wakes that are so dangerous to everyone....it was brought up at every meeting according to what I have heard but is being ignored. Browning Guy and bobby b. 2
skeeter Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Anyone else lay eyes on the enormous off-shore racing type boat parked in front of Harter House earlier this week ? It must have been at least 45' long and was so big it needed to be towed by a rig suitable for over-the-road trucking but with a work-body on it. Yeah, we really need another show-off, look-at-me boat like that around here. At least when it's up on plane it won't throw quite as big of a wake as these plowing wake-boats do. bobby b. 1

And why don't they require mufflers on those things (or do they and another rule ignored and not enforced). I was fishing lower end the other day and one of those cigar boats passed on the other side of the lake (far away from me) and I couldn't believe how loud it was (the driver must need hearing protection)
vernon Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I've always enjoyed watching the ones blow by where everybody has on an aircraft style headset so they can communicate. "Hey hon, it's beautiful out today. You wanna go for a boat ride?" "You bet! I'll get the hearing protection and noise canceling communication devices!" "Swell! I'll see you on the dock!" And, I'm sure they're mostly the run of the mill Bose models that retail for about a grand each. Of course, I'm sure half the people that see me in the Z521c with a hundred rods on deck think I'm every bit as big of a showoff and a moron too. Fortunately, I know better! skeeter, Champ188, Quillback and 2 others 3 2 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
