Gumboot Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 There are some good boat buys if one is patient, and not opposed to negotiating. 3 years ago thought I wanted a fish/ski, had to drive 4 hours but found very nice Ranger at Greer's Ferry for fair px. Ski part was good, fish part not so much. Sold it couple of months ago on craigslist within days of listing, for $300 less than I paid. No real point to be made. Just wanted to pat myself on the back. Flysmallie 1
fishinwrench Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I like finding boats that are still structurally sound but otherwise a bit rough (blown engines, ect.). Amazing deals can be made and I truly love fixing them back up to "better than new" condition. I have a 1989 Champion w/Merc XR2 that is my next project. She's gonna be sweet, and I already have 2 guys tapping their feet with cash in hand if I decide to sell it. I'll probably keep it awhile though. If I told you how little $ I have invested in it you'd be speechless. terryj1024 and Hickabilly 2

Wrench: Yeah fella, I got some bad news for you. You got a blown head on that XR2, the electronic RPM modulator is fried, and you've got a couple of soft spots in the transom. Customer: Golly gee, I was afraid it might be something like that. What'll it cost to fix. Wrench: Whoa nelly...a whole lot more than that pos is worth. Tell you what, being a nice guy, and since I can salvage the new i-pilot and the two new graphs, you send me the titles and I'll send you a check for $3000, that way you don't have to drive all the way back over here from Porta Cima, and you can put that money towards that Sea Ray that you really want. Customer: Gosh, thanks wrench. You're the best... lee G., snagged in outlet 3 and fishinwrench 1 1 1
Flysmallie Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 That's an odd post. Wrench and I don't always see eye to eye and have some pretty nasty conversations in the past but I don't think he's ever going to take advantage of anyone on a boat or a repair. lee G. and Hickabilly 2
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Wow! I hope he's kidding. I don't think anyone has helped as many people as Wrench on this site or any other for that matter. lee G. and Hickabilly 2
fishinwrench Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I'm sure he was just rippin' me. 😉 Bad transoms and blown "RPM Modulators" are a deal breaker, I won't even make an offer on that one. Hickabilly and lee G. 2

The old 82 Charger finally kicked the bucket, i.e. tried to eat a piston. You interested?
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 $25.00 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)

Trolling motor is on the wrong side....What knucklehead did that? 😁Definitely interested in the motor and controls. Why don't we just freshen up the motor, then you can sell it and not take a loss? It doesn't cost that much to bring a 2-4 cylinder motor back to life.
