Members Bryant Bourgeois Posted October 2, 2017 Members Posted October 2, 2017 Making a trip to table rock the 2nd weekend in October. Never fished a lake of this type being from south Louisiana. Any little bit of help would be great appreciated. If anyone could point me in a good direction as far as baits and some spots to try. Thanks, Bryant Bourgeois.
rps Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Bryant, where will you stay? Do you have your own boat? What do you want to catch? This forum, unlike so many others, will share. However, we need a bit of help to focus. BTW, the best advice we can give a flat water, muddy water angler (like I was when I came here) is hire a guide. Bill Babler, Pete Wenners, or Buster Loving. techo and magicwormman 2
Members Bryant Bourgeois Posted October 2, 2017 Author Members Posted October 2, 2017 Staying at big cedar lodge. Bringing own boat with me. Going after Just bass.
rps Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 The bass have not yet moved to the backs of coves, but they will soon. That will change the baits we throw to blades, buzz baits, and shallow cranks. Until then, things will be tough and about your best chance will be sitting in channels looking for suspended bait and fishing a drop shot. Have a topwater you can throw for distancce and try to land the bait in the splash rings of the occasional hit on top. Good luck. tapout, abkeenan and magicwormman 3
magicwormman Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I agree with RPS, a 4 hour trip with Bill Babler would be your best bet. The Rock can be a challenge for the best of them. I would try dropshot, Ned rig, and topwater.
techo Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I agree...hire Babler for a half day. It will make the rest of your trip much more successful. Tim Carpenter
Royal Blue Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I'd hire a guide to get away from the huge Toyota tournament that will likely be launching out of Long Creek.
Browning Guy Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 For 30 pounds of fresh gulf shrimp and 6 doz oysters, I would let you use all of my tackle, boat and have my wife cook you lunch and dinner while you're here...................on second thought.....you can't use the boat. vernon, Daryk Campbell Sr and rps 1 2
abkeenan Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Probably fishing one of those big tournaments? crazy4fishin 1
