Et tu BH? They were catching a binch of fish but not too much size difference than what is found here in MO. Sure you could find smallies that size within an hour or two of Billetheadville. Don't know if that would qualify as "close to home". Takes me a bit over an hour to find smallies like those.

I know where there is a few close to an hour from home but limited access and a scary part of the river as it is a tail water. Where they are the river can raise in a matter of seconds and go up or down ten to twelve feet. Narrow channel. I have caught on the fly on Stockton but just a few. Other than that it would be over two hours and that would be kayak or canoe water. I want jet boat water :) .  Guess I need to do longer trips,

You met a guy over the weekend that can take you on a trip like that in Missouri.

Have fished the crash.  Smallies rounding up bait, it is crazy fun.  The fish on average were a little smaller than you might catch on some WI rivers further north but the super aggressive feeding made up the size difference.  Would recommend a trip!

True. But I doubt you need a whole lot of showing.

       Thanks Ronnie,

It would not be the fishing or catching but finding the place to fish. I won't ask and just like I have given advice to others that ask you sometimes have to explore and find on your own which gives you the satisfaction of doing it all yourself. Would be different too if I had it close. A guy can burn his wheels off and break the bank looking,
