laker67
The highly anticipated arrival of the "Urban stain" of rainbow trout is near. Their northern migration could start any day now. This strain of missouri rainbow is a mix of McCloud river rainbow, one part, two part Arlee strain, and one and one third part of California Red Band trout. They are reared in a round stock tank, manufactured by Tarter USA. This allows them to learn how to swim in circles at a young age. They grow quick, but life expectancy is short. Do they swim in a right turn or left? Are they political right wing or left? Billetead I have found that it is best to fish the area in a counter clockwise direction. That way they are swimming toward your bait and not away from it. BilletHead
Thank you for the clarification. If I ever get stranded up there I will know how to do it. Until then you can catch my fair share. . fishinwrench
Do they specifically breed a big batch of trout for this, or are they just taken from our regular broods? I have a short list of inquiries about the urban trout program, but I don't know whether to ask questions.... or axe kwersions. laker67 and snagged in outlet 3 1

Billetead It has been our experience that they tend to swim counterclockwise in the pond near us. When we have ice fished you could see the fish move around the lake as people would catch them going down along the bank. Then 15 to 25 minutes later another round would come through. Have you ever watched shad around a submersible light? Crazy and mesmerizing.
