Got a late start. Caught 5 one keeper.   Spro Rockcrawler. Darker color. Red/ dark brown. Got one on a nu-tech jig.

Main lake bluff and cuts

Had lower unit problems. Was very fortunate to be towed back by Mark. He was very helpful. Glad to live in a part of the world where such good people live. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Mark  thanks again.

Boats don't work sometimes, it just sucks.

We don't get to fish often enough, and when we do, this happens. Paul and I were towed by a couple of guys at the Big Bass Bash last month because of battery issues. They were a couple of older guys who had been around long enough to know the drill. They were fishing in the tournament but still stepped up to the task. I believe they were paying it forward. The guy was the owner of a Pizza place on the lake near Tan Tar A. If I can rememer the name of his Pizza Place, I'll give him a shout out!

Sorry to hear about lower unit, at least no one was hurt.

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

Guessing i hit something. Broke the shaft in lower unit.  At least no injuries and minor inconvenience.

Don't forget that you're more than likely insured for impact damage.

Insurance deductible is very high.  Probably won't help me. What would be a ballpark fair price to rebuild lower unit??

any ideas or advice are welcome

Depends on the degree of damage.  No way to estimate it without fully inspecting it.

If it hit hard enough to twist/bend/break the driveshaft or propshaft then the gears need to be magnafluxed to ensure there's no fractures, and the other shaft and splines need to be inspected.

Deductable (or most of it) can be covered.  This is what we pay premiums for.  I assume you trashed the prop? Surely the deductible isn't more than that.

Prop is not trashed at all. Exterior seems fine.  I have a 5000$ deductible. Probably not my wisest day in selecting coverage.

Just wanting to know if 1800 or 3500 or more might be normal.

Well then, you may be in luck.   The shaft is less than 550.00

If it just broke from "metal fatigue" and no hard impact then gears and bearings should be fine.    Replace shaft and away you go.  1250.00 tops with fresh seals and a new water pump.
