Moved to Springfield last year, just got my fishing boat I've always dreamed of, I'm about 30 minutes from Stockton and have only fished bull shoals before and hardly much of that the last 20 years. I'm reading forums but any hints, thoughts, bait ect I'd love to know. Heading up Saturday to try my hand. Thanks!

Thanks!  The idea of fishing in 3-10 ft or water is foreign to me, I'm used to a much different lake. Excited to learn about it, this forum is full of good info I'm reading and taking notes!

This is the slowest time of year for us here on the forum... not much fishing going on.  Waiting on colder water - it won't be long.

You might go back and look at some of the posts from a year ago - even 2.  Fall patterns don't change much.  You'll catch on quick.  Stockton is a pretty fertile lake.

Please come back and share some info for the next newbie that comes along!

Thanks

Oh and yes... anglers don't like naming "spots".  General areas are good enough.  Depth is key, especially on Stockton.

Rock changes and points were best for us today. Wind was serious enough we didn’t spend much time on the north side.

Jerkbait, wart and my son caught a couple on a ned. Still full of life in 52-53 water. 2-8 ft.

I haven't found much but what I have found was over or near deep water, many suspended fish.

Stockton is a Great Lake and I heard it gets about as windy as the Great Lakes so as well.

sounds like you have a great boat. I'd love to see pictures of it some day, Especially with you holding up a nice fish in the foreground.

walleye, Crappie, catfish, white bass and plenty of smallies, spots, and LMB. A time and a place on Stockton for catching all those fish

I've been fishing Stockton a couple times per week since July. I've learned a lot but still have so much more to go.

Stockton is windy, but you can plan around it. If the wind is blowing hard out of the north the northern shores will be tolerable, and vice-versa. You have more than enough boat to handle it.

Unfortunately I can't offer much advice on what to do this time of year because I haven't figure it out myself. Hooked a big walleye last night and lost it. I was casting a purple tiger #7 flicker shad close to shore and working it back at a slight angle into deeper water.

I marked a lot of fish on a drop off ledge in 25-40 feet, suspended and hugging the bottom. Tried a jigging spoon with no luck. May be a good spot to work a jig.
