Are these truly good or just good for the price?

I’m not judging opinion, rather want to understand spinning reels. I find myself needing one more frequently than I used too though they rarely start the day on the deck. Have 3 different brands now and models and just not a fan of any. Either balance is weird, knob on handle is goofy, distance from blank to bail is odd, etc

I bought 3 of the 6930  for river fishing.  They are not quite as smooth as the higher dollar models,, but I have several that have functioned for years, being beat in the bottom of a canoe, dunked dropped and they still preform well.  I own several other different brands Lews, BPS, Shammano dawia and others, for me the pfluegers .stand up best for the buck.  As far balance and distance etc. that is on the buyer.  I try to go to a store, first I find a reel that fits the rod or a similar rod well, balance, distance from blank etc.(I have large hands so I get that issue) once I find the right model I may go through 5 or 6 boxes to find the one that operates smoothest.  I am a finesse guy and use the spinning gear most of the time.

The Pflueger President is the best bank for your buck when it comes to a decent spinning reel IMO. I've got a bunch of the 6920, 6925 and 6930's. I've had two issues with them and they were on reels that were several years old and used hard. One 6925 has a slight tick in the retrieve that was kind of annoying so I stuck it on a long rod for dipping trees for crappie where it didn't matter. The other issue is on a 6930 and the drag clicker broke and so the drag doesn't make any noise. It still works perfectly fine though. Both reels still see plenty of action and put plenty of fish in the boat for me though. $30 is a steal for those reels. I don't really need any, but may try to pick up a few more just because it's a 2 for 1 deal!

Well if I could get a Stradic for $30 I'd be all over it.  If price is not an issue, I'd get a Stradic over El Presidente.  Never have fished a Revo, so no opinion there.  I have heard lots of complaints that if a Stradic gets wet, it binds up (won't reel), hasn't happened to me, but I haven't dunked one in the water yet.  Dunno if the latest models have that binding issue.

They are all I use. The smaller ones I use on rivers have been especially abused and are still going many years later.

Nedmeister Dave likes a fairly big reel for Ned fishing, I believe around a 3000 size Daiwa, which would roughly translate to a 35 or 40 size President.  Bigger diameter spool leads to less line twist is I believe his primary reason for a bigger reel.  Personally I like a 30 size for Ned fishing, just feels right to me.

Drop ol' Dave a PM, he can explain his reasoning, just be careful or he'll talk you into a Daiwa.  :D
