I've had a time share in Branson for many years although I don't go up on the strip to shoes or anything. But the lake, the resorts and definitely Big cedar are absolutely booming. I've never seen so many boats out on the water like the last two years. Big Cedar continues to build new buildings, restaurants and attractions like there's no tomorrow. They bought out Paradise Point just last year and are building a huge new building with lazy river pool at the Cliffs at Long Creek. And that is addition to taking over Long Creek Marina. Plus the new shooting center and golf course. That young person you talked to must not have looked up from his fishing.

A few years back I got into a discussion with a younger local angler and he said "Branson is dieing." I questioned him about that. And his response seemed logical. "Branson has catered to the elderly for so long and now they're all dieing off. My generation is simply not interested in country music." Things did seem more depressed, imo. But the overall economy wasn't as good either. Anyways since then, it appears that some shows have been suffering, but also it seems to me there's been a shift towards an adventure and shopping themes and the Branson's economy has improved. So I'm just wondering if you are seeing younger angler's and if the mind set is changing some, if so? its all about demographics I am 57 and my generations parents are almost all gone...they made Branson thrive...one reason the movers and shakers want to bring the LOZ party demographic to TR...IMHO I'd rather see a different demographic driving by those how want to nurture and protect the beauty of or area and not succumb to the easy quick buck...one reason I advocate the larger fish less consumption....the types of people that follow that typically don't over exploit....unless there is a huge ground swell, I am afraid 90' boats and casinos are the future..the first shot of that was the landing (Las Vegas of the midwest)....the big money people will exploit, trash..then live in another cool place once we end up like the salton sea here 1 hour ago, Gatorjet said: Yes, I see younger anglers on the lake. Young singles, or fishermen on a guys weekend. Young families with kids. Also entire families. Grandparents, parents, and kids all enjoying a day of fishing from a pontoon. Not even close to the demographic that would choose C&R fishing only, or a reduced daily limit. As for Branson, there is a plethora of varied entertainment if you look for it. Those "elderly" that Branson caters to are also being created every year. Some in Branson obviously don't understand that people are not born old, but grow older each day. Most of those elderly today, including my wife and me were young, or at least younger when we began coming to Branson. My son, and daughter with their families are now young people visiting Branson. They, as many other families will one day be the "elderly". you are correct MDC knows this and its why we have the regs we see....as far as varied yes Gmaw n Gpaw take the Grandkids to such entertainment......but its def fading 3 minutes ago, Trout Addict said: Yeah, Im glad there younger people coming to Taney, that's great for Branson and the state (sales tax). For the record I'm not advocating for C&R or reduction in the daily limit. I don't own a boat and fish primarily the trophy zone. And as far as eating trout, under 12 inch is not worth keeping, but one over 20 inch trout is as good of eating as there is, imo. The problem is if I remove a 25" inch rainbow or on 8 pound brown from the trophy zone people come unglued, maybe because they want to be able to catch it below Fall Creek. I know people who make fish Taney 300 days a year primarily in the trophy area, but fish below Fall Creek for meat. Just curious though, what demographics chooses C&R? The privileged? I see people from 8 to 80 C&R in the trophy area. I understand that as do other. I'm 57 year's old and have been vacationing in Branson 20 plus years and I've seen a lot of theaters and shows come and go. I also enjoy old Rock and Roll which is similar to the New Country, imo. To my knowledge, only one show has even tried to change from the old country shows and they are not even on the strip anymore. I'm just trying to get a feel where Branson's heading. And what is see - Large Farris wheel, jet adventure rides on Taney, mountain roller coasters, zip lines and now Snow Making Machines on mountains. Just What I see is an adventure theme starting to appear for the young people's money. interesting and good points Trout Addict 1 MONKEYS? what monkeys?

tjm Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 "Just curious though, what demographics chooses C&R? The privileged? I see people from 8 to 80 C&R in the trophy area." Any one that fishes is privileged, some more than others. As to practitioners of C&R, I would assume that the Lazy make up the greater percentage. Either too lazy to clean fish, as I was fifty years ago when I discovered how easy C&R was; or too lazy to look for new water/new fish; so release where you know you can come back to recycle it. Done that too. There is a different demographic at work though in those who would mandate C&R where the resource is not endangered. bfishn 1

Seth Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I’m 31, but heen coming down to fish Taney for probably 20 years with dad. Branson has been as busy as I remember it the past few years. I’m more about the fishing and food than the shows but now that I am getting older, I am starting to become more interested in seeing more of the shows. We watched Moses at the Sight and Sound theater the last time we were down and had a blast. Stiff like Steal your Dollar City don’t do much for me unless I am going with little kids or people who haven’t been before. Seeing them have a good time makes it more enjoyable than if it was just me and the better half. We have done it plenty of times before so the novelty has worn off.
