Has this weather driven the eyes deep?

It finally looks like I will be able to get on the water in the morning unless something else pops up.  I'm still planning on starting with the spoon.  I've made too many of them to just let the set around and oxidize.

Caught this little guy in 42 feet of water saturday. All I can catch is small jacks.

Rapala x rap on those rocky points. Stick with it for a day and you will catch some nice keepers

Dan- it's still a walleye even though it's not that much bigger than your spoon.

I wonder how Stockton compares to Bull with walleye as far as how deep they go in the winter. I watched Buster Loving's seminar about upper Bull a few years ago and if i remember right he was saying they go shallow and all the guys (like myself) were trolling their baits under them

I have caught them all over the water column during the day, after the thermocline  is gone. The overcast days and that magic time right before and after dark is a shallow bite for sure.  To be honest I still have some pieces of the puzzle missing, after temps go below 50.

It seems like when temps are between 55 and 45 or so they go where ever they want. Cover, food, prespawn, and all that??

They weren't as deep as I figured and weren't as plentiful as I had hoped.

I fished from Mutton Creek to the dam.  Most main lake points were too windy to do a good job on.  I have a 36v tmotor and had to run it on 4 and 5 and the prop kept popping out of the water.  I did catch a few whites and crappie on the main lake but most fish were around secondary points where boat control was better.

I fished from 25-50' deep.  The fish were from 30 to 38' deep with most being around 35'.  The only bait I could get bit on was a home made jigging spoon.

I finished up with 2 walleye, 3 whites and 6 crappie.

Yep that sounds about like my experiences after the water goes below 55. They seem to be anywhere they want.
