Fishing buddy texted from hot tub tonight, nice meteor shower going on.  Moon is dim and sky is clear here.  Look to the northeast and watch the show.   Some directly overhead too.  Should go on till dawn.  Just came in from a 20 minute outing and saw about 15.  Couple of bright long ones.

Been looking periodically but haven't seen one yet.  Supposed to peak about 1:30-2:00 so I just put coffee on.

The youngest child is currently having a meltdown because it's bedtime and she hasn't seen a shooting star yet.   I told her she could stay up for it but then mom had a meltdown and said "no way".  So now me and the youngest are both in the dog house.   Piss on it, she can't tell ME when to go to bed !   :P

the Taurid Meteor shower events  we see have a few interesting theories worth a read

it is suggested that the remnants of a comet has caused cataclysms through out earths history, destroying ancient civilizations and causing mass extinctions..the discovery of the megalithic structures of gobekli tepe in the late 90's has pushed back the dates of our rise from hunter gathers from 5k years ago to more that 10k..roughly the end of the last Ice age.....

I really hope many got out last night to see the Geminids, it was an absolutely stellar performance! About a dozen times in my life I have went out at night to see a scheduled meteor shower to be mainly disappointed at only seeing a few. We stepped out on the deck last night and saw 20 in the first 5 minutes!

We went to bed on the screened in porch. As I shut my eyes Pat said I seen a shooting star. So we laid there and watched, every time I started to doze off she would say I seen another. She seen eight before going to sleep. I tried but it is hard seeing them through my eye lids ,

For many years, I would enjoy them on the way to the duck blind.  It seems like a hunt was always planned on the night they came in.  I can remember a few mornings waiting for daylight to come and watching them.  Not this year, not chasing birds for a change.  Arm still works good for casting but still too weak for recoil.
