gitnby Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Going to give it a try this weekend. Will start off with jerk bait, A/rig and WW. Maybe a spoon or a grub deep as a back up? Steep banks and bluff ends will be the target. Wish me luck! Quillback, Daryk Campbell Sr and *T* 3
Quillback Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Good luck, and it will be interesting to hear how you do.

Guest Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 i fished the big m eagle rock area yesterday. the wind made it a chunk and wind day. so, we fished a jerk bait all day, and it produced one small bass for us. did not see one dying shad. so, if there is any type of shad kill going on in that area, they must have all been on the bottom of the lake to begin with. really did not see any signs of fish or shad on the electronics other than in creeks right at the ice line. probably a good indication that both bait and bass are glued to the bottom somewhere. these short one and two day warm ups do not really trigger much reaction by the fish or bait as far as activity. it usually takes closer to a week. since it did not seem that there was any feeding up in the water column, the dreaded a-rig might have conjured up a bite, provided you could throw far enough ahead of the boat to get it to depth long enough before the boat blew by it. we did talk to one fellow that was attempting to do just that. this was late just before we called it quits, and he said that as far as he knew, he had not had a bite all day and he was wore out from slinging it. bo
m&m Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Gitnby, good luck. Waiting to hear about your success. Mike
gitnby Posted January 20, 2018 Author Posted January 20, 2018 Bluebird day after cold front is never a good combination for me. One good bite all day, about a 3 pound largemouth on a WW. Had one good slam on the football jig, but couldn’t snag him Found plenty of fish on the graph, but couldn’t get them to bite. Saw a few shad floating. Water temps were anywhere from 45.6 to 48 in the Kimberling City area Had an interesting start to the day. Dropped boat down anD Opened the lid to pump the bulb and there was water coming in the drain hole? Apparently, the plug had vibrated itself out and was hanging on by the retainer. It’s not easy to screw that plug back in hanging over the rear deck when the boats on the lift! Hooked my foot on the seat pole and thank God I didn’t get a cramp or have to sneeze. 😀
Codywskeeter1521 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Me and cooper fished hard from 8am to 5pm shell knob area to eagle Rock. It was extremely tough. Didn't manage a fish. Fished everything from a A rig to a spoon deep. Did graph some fish in the guts of a couple creeks but couldn't sweet talk them into biting. Going again in the morning gotta try and redeem ourselves lol. Good luck everyone.
