TRRANGER Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I have a tournament in March and for some reason they decided on Larry R Gale as a take off location. I hate fishing cold dirty water and that is all I have ever found up there. My question is this, how far in rough river miles is it to PB2. I am much more confident in my ability to locate a solid limit in the cleaner water up around Aohonna area and around PB2 but not sure how far it is by river. Thanks in advance. TR
fishinwrench Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 It's 22 miles to PB#2 and another 10 miles to Alhonna. Kinda rediculous to make that run though, especially if A-rigs are allowed. A 20+lb. sack could easily come out of the Niangua's in March. WeekendWarrior, evilcatfish and grizwilson 3
shrapnel Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 There's plenty of maps you can google with mile markers on them.
TRRANGER Posted January 19, 2018 Author Posted January 19, 2018 I just have no experience up there, I have not spent time up there to know where the good brushpiles and docks are located. I have never been able to catch fish in muddy water. and that is all I have ever found up there. I will take suggestions and am willing to learn.

MOsmallies Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Larry Gale to Alhonna is a 30-32 mile run... That being said you'll pass up a lot of good water on your way there. But it's all about what you have confidence in. Is the amount of money you could win worth it to make a 60+ mile round trip? That 30+lb sack last spring came out of the Niangua arm I believe. There are big fish there.
*T* Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 A little warmer water up by Gale in the late winter, as well as pretty clear water much of the time. But just no fish there to speak of. "Water is the driving force of all Nature." -Leonardo da Vinci

TR Watch out for oncoming traffic headed where you are leaving in the morning. Stay wide on inside bends. The mid lake is one heck of a fishery. Figure out what rock/depth then worry about docks and brush.

Old plug Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 I learned long ago on this lake Bass are where you find them. It does not end with brush and docks on this lake..It matters to you a lot more than the fish about the color the water. You let the water color get into your head and it is like tin cans on a string. It is going to go from your thinking right down the line to what on the end of your line and reflect your thinking. If I was fishing a tournament in March I think would want my spinning outfit with 8 or maybe even 6 lb lb test on it to fish suspending baits very shallow around rocky banks and points. I would have a bait caster rod as well with 12 lb test on it and a 5/16 th ounce jig it and would fish channel banks including the docks and anything else along the way. I say with 5/16 and 12lb line because I find IMO that is a good balance of tackle for that time frame. mixermarkb and *T* 2
