Started at 12 fished til 515pm. Had our 1st fish in the boat 15 minutes of being out. Solid 3 lber. Hit another bank and caught a 14inch largemouth. After that should have went home. Rk caught em. Threw a jerkbait alot and didn't get a bite. Didn't throw the A-rigs today. Champ would be proud of me. Wt:42.3-43. Saw a few small threadfins floating and twitching off the banks that I fished not many but a few here and there.

actually, if one can withstand the temps, bass are often active first thing in the mornings this time of the year.  could even tell you how many times that we caught everyone of our bass by 8 am.  getting out that early in the cold just does not appeal to me quite as much as way back in my younger years.  i've become more of a fair weather fisherman.

My hat is off to you, Sprint. Good job of not caving to the cheater rig.

Donna and I started off about 10 AM at the Cow Creek ramp and were back on the trailer there by 1:30 without a single bite to show for our efforts. Figured we go snag us a Blue Eye Burger and then go drop the Ranger back in the water at Eagle Rock. Well, the burger joint was closed (just like fishes' mouths) so we were relegated to snacks at Carr Lane, then on to Eagle Rock.

Fished another 2-plus hours without a bite until Donna finally got a nibble on the varmint off a point. Had time to hit one more spot near the ramp, and lo and behold I found a little wad of fish and caught three in 10 minutes, all on the varmint, aka The Little Guy. Two were short spots and the third was a nice 16-inch keeper LM.

We found water temps of 46-47 on the lower end and 41-43 up around Eagle Rock.

Hang in there, guys. It'll get better. January is just a crappy month.

The burger joint must be partially dependent upon federal funding and the burger flippers are apparently non-mission essential so there you go.........

you could have gotten a burger at carr lane also.  i have stopped there upon occasion when meeting up with tracy, and had a burger while waiting.

glad to hear that you caught something.  bites are just few and far between right now.  it may take a substantial rain to break them back loose.  did you guys notice any shad  dying?

Sup with that? Hopefully not for good as that's one of my go-to's when I am down.

I was out on Saturday and had similar results.  On the water at Kimberling City at 9, off at 1.  Went from KC up above baxter, and was determined to catch fish on the stickbait, but they were determined to not eat it.  Sounds like I probably saw a few of you on the water based on locations.

I noticed several dozen shad floating on the bluffs across from Mill Creek as well, but not as many as I'd have liked to see.  I'm also not sure if I have ever seen more ducks on Table Rock than yesterday.

I did get some time with a few baits I hadn't thrown before however, and believe I learned a bit.  I have refused for a long time to spend $25 on a Megabass 110, but now understand why they cost twice as much as their competitors.  I love my McSticks and will still throw them when I think less action is better, but I was amazed how much more action the 110 has.

I also threw the 6th Sense Curve 55 (another Wiggle Wart knockoff), and the jury is still out for me.  I really like their finishes, and was impressed with how little it hung up, but I'm not sure it is as good at deflecting and grinding as the Wart or RkCrawler.  Probably why it didn't hang as much :)

I could be wrong but I want to say that Blue Eye Burger doesn't open until a little later in the spring. It wasn't open when we got down there March 1st last year although I can't remember exactly when it did finally open.  I'm a fan as well despite Mr. Babler's less than glowing review a few years back. :D
