snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Asian Carp roundup at Creve Coeur Lake http://via.fox2now.com/2eonJ
patfish Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 When I saw that this morning the first thing I thought was "Where is SIO3 doing his part for the eradication?"
MoCarp Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I read somewhere a student was injured by a jumping silver carp, I would how they do a study on the sizes/ages of the fish removed...it will be be for naught if they can't keep them out but when it floods they are just SOL...would be interesting to see how the bitter weather we have had effects them MONKEYS? what monkeys?

I had my fun with them and I'm over it. Although they are big they don't fight as good as a common. Besides that, they are nasty. My best day was probably 9-10 of them in a couple hours. I didn't weigh them because they literally fall apart if you touch them so I went with length. I few were 3'. And I know they don't take flies.....But they do. 3 hours ago, MoCarp said: would be interesting to see how the bitter weather we have had effects them Doesn't bother them at all as far I have seen. And I can show you thousands of them. patfish 1
fishinwrench Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I'd rather just NOT FISH than to mess around with those disgusting zombies. During "Eagle Days" below Bagnell you could watch the eagles swoop down like they were gonna scoop one up, then as soon as they realized what they were they'd change their mind.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I got over it pretty quick. But the first take by 3' of any fish is a rush. I stumbled on a hole packed with them when I was chasing hybrids all over the place. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
MoCarp Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 never caught a bighead or silver, being they filter feed....be like catching a spoonbill in the mouth happens ...but people win the lottery too I have friends that euro carp in and around St Louis, the common carp fishing has been hurt when the asian carp get out of hand, couple of lakes they fish went south just like Creve Coeur when they washed it MONKEYS? what monkeys?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 I saw this coming. They do filter feed AND they take flies.....in the mouth. Clousers to be exact.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 Check out the video in this article. Disgusting things. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/netting-operation-now-underway-puts-creve-coeur-lake-carp-in/article_e20e6516-7b2d-53c0-ae93-67eb78a00e49.html
Gavin Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 They do take flies. Some friend's used to chase them with fly rods at some lake spillway in Illinois. Guess the thrill of catching big stinky fish wore off because I haven't heard anything about it in several years. I'm sure the fish are still there if anyone wants to seek them out and catch them.
