Members moturkey Posted February 2, 2018 Members Posted February 2, 2018 I'm getting tired of flopping an 80+ pound kayak onto my roof, so i'm scouting trailer options. I'm leaning towards a multi-purpose utility trailer over a single-purpose kayak trailer. The best deal i've been able to find on the innerwebs in this region seems to be the Stag 5x10 for $725 (http://stagtrailers.com/pricing-list/). Anybody here familiar with their products? Any other suggestions? Any similar used trailers someone here is looking to unload? Thanks in advance.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Try harbor freight, and northern tool. moturkey 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Chief Grey Bear Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 I haul my canoe on an old boat trailer. I used to have some home built racks that I could haul more. I can still get 3-4 on there if I have too. But anyway, you can usually find one for reasonable price. One place to check is a boat repair place on a lake. They seem to have acres of junk boats sitting on a decent trailer. Might be able to cut a deal. moturkey, tjm, snagged in outlet 3 and 1 other 4 Chief Grey Bear Living is dangerous to your health Owner Ozark Fishing Expeditions Co-Owner, Chief Executive Product Development Team Jerm Werm Executive Pro Staff Team Agnew Executive Pro Staff Paul Dallas Productions Executive Pro Staff Team Heddon, River Division Chief Primary Consultant Missouri Smallmouth Alliance Executive Vice President Ronnie Moore Outdoors
Flysmallie Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Seems a lot of guys are going with the ones from harbor freight and customizing them to fit their needs.
Chief Grey Bear Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 One thing I do like about the boat trailer is that they are longer. And that makes them much easier to back if you need to. tjm and grizwilson 2 Chief Grey Bear Living is dangerous to your health Owner Ozark Fishing Expeditions Co-Owner, Chief Executive Product Development Team Jerm Werm Executive Pro Staff Team Agnew Executive Pro Staff Paul Dallas Productions Executive Pro Staff Team Heddon, River Division Chief Primary Consultant Missouri Smallmouth Alliance Executive Vice President Ronnie Moore Outdoors

moguy1973 Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 The trailers that Harbor Freight sell are pretty good, and cheap. I've been thinking about getting a 4x8' one in the future. Then I'm going to use the roof rack bars we have for our SUV to go across the top of the trailer and use my Inno Kayak carrier to strap it down. It stands them up so I can fit two side by side without having to lay them on top of each other. The thing that makes the trailer you posted above good for that is that it has the side rails already built in where you'd have to add them on the HF trailer. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

Members moturkey Posted February 3, 2018 Author Members Posted February 3, 2018 Wow billethead, that’s impressive! I wouldn’t have the attention span to finish the framing, much less bring it to completion with a custom paint job! BilletHead 1
