BilletHead Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 A little tragedy in the BilletHead garden last Evening, Mother nature tearing up Jack . Had about fifteen minutes of pea to marble sized hail and high winds. Tomatoes looked Ok but the lettuce looks like someone shot the patch with 000 buck, Mostly the flat leaved stuff. Romaine does not look too bad. I harvested some of the hailed stuff, cleaned it and shared with three families. Would of been five but the other two were not home. The tomatoes planted in the self water tubs is doing well. Blooming and some are having to be tied up., Every tub is planted now including this bunch that have peppers in them, BilletHead Daryk Campbell Sr and tho1mas 2 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Johnsfolly Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 We just went with the instant containerized garden this year. Cherry tomatoes, romaine lettuce, summer squash, sugar peas, potatoes and herbs. ness and BilletHead 2
jdmidwest Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 That is simple enough. Tomatoes are putting on soon. My raised beds are doing well. Lettuce, strawberries, and spinach now. Snow peas blooming and 4'tall. Tomatoes in and about 12" high. Cucumbers, Zuchinni, and Jade beans up. Green peppers are foundering, stunted by cold. Tilled the main garden yesterday and planted a row of sweet corn, more cucumbers, squash, green beans, okra, and some flowers. Need a shower now to get them going. Bees are strong this year. Started with 3 hold over hives at the farm, bought 2 new hives, and made 3 hives from splits at the farm. Clover starting to bloom now and added new boxes this week because they are filling them up so fast. Gonna check and add more at the farm on Sunday on way back from Spring River float. ness Posted May 19, 2018 Author Posted May 19, 2018 The current state of affairs: First round of lettuce is getting harvested, first round of radishes about ready, maters are setting blooms and have pretty nice, thick stems. Beans are popping up. BilletHead 1 John
MOPanfisher Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Dang I am so far behind it isn't funny. Was gonna get the Mayers intone garden today but mother nature opted to wah out that plan. Wife did make some freezer jam, but had to buy the strawberries, the huse patch is in a rebuilding year after being neglected badly last year. Are getting some to eat. All the spinach is slate to get picked tomorrow, dinner at a friends. Something about blanched, shocked, drizzled with sesame oil and didn't catch what else. Says it will be good.
