Plastic_worm Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Spent the month of January kayaking the entire St Johns River (310 miles) in Florida. We started in central FL south of Orlando and made our way north eventually ending at Huguenot park outside of Jacksonville, FL. I need to do more expeditions in the future, I t was a blast. Fishing wasn't great (massive cold front and Hurricane Irma put a hurting on the area) but I did catch my first alligator gar. BilletHead Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Neat part one Drew, I was wondering where you were as you went silent. Ham Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I was wondering about the fishing. I would think the necessity to cover "X" number of miles a day negatively impacts fishing. Good Deal on the Gator Gar ! Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Good thing I went for the adventure and brought more camera gear than fishing gear. However, there were a few days we left the fish biting...that's the hardest but you can't hang out when you have 10 miles to a shelter. Ham Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Nope. I struggle with that on the creeks. Plastic_worm and grizwilson 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Terrierman Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 heck of a trip. I was in Florida for ten days then too, in a house. The weather was awful. Adverse effects for a family vacation for certain. Worse in a kayak and tent to be sure. grizwilson 1

Pat Magee Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I struggle to get a couple guys to go on a weekend camping/kayak trip and here you are doing 300 miles! How'd the gear hold up on the trip? Anything you regret bringing or buying? You were in the Coosa FD, right?
Gavin Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Enjoyed your report. A great adventure! Thanks for sharing it.
