Aldo, if anyone has been around cape fair since the rain, is it log jam city or runnable? Thanks to all, great resource here to help the hopelessly lost such as i! Planning to put in at Bridgeport tomorrow morning. Hopefully will be greeted by some hungry fish and not too many floaters. Will report back on my experience. Going to try some coves with creeks or good runoff coming in as well as go up in James River maybe flat creek. Planning on using spinnerbaits, crankbaits and if the water is clean enough I finally picked up a 360 gt search bait to try. Anyone have an idea if whites may start moving up towards flat creek and James yet after the rain?
Carl W Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I put in at Eagle Rock today with water temps starting at 45 and ending at 51 around 1:30. We caught around 15 most around 13 or 14 inches with 3 keepers. Only one was a decent keeper at 2.5 pounds probably. We caught all our fish on crank baits.
Seth Clarkson Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I wish I had more to report but mainly just water conditions. Caught 1 bass on a jig, and 1 on an a rig, and a rock bass off a grub. Half a mile or so north of point 15 into James River the water cleaned up. Caught both bass up in James. One big log between point 15 and Bridgeport but only a few small ones otherwise. Battled a lot of wind and guys in the tournament's wake as they flew by. Saw a lot of ppl on the water but only saw a few small crappie caught. I just have a hard time finding fish if they aren't in cover. I'm sure others had a much better day in that area. Saw a green sunfish struggling up in James River that the top half looked almost a purple color, and one 2 or 3 inch shad floating. Didn't see a whole lot of bait. Carl W and mixermarkb 2
Champ188 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 All good info, Seth. Thanks for being willing to share even though you had a tough trip. Seth Clarkson and mixermarkb 2
Basfis Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Fished the KC area yesterday. It was ok. Plan was to crank some up in the stained water in the creeks with the wind. I was disappointed to see how clear it was. For as much wind as there was, it was tough to find it blowing on a chunk rock bank. Scratched out a limit and probably 10 shorts. Wart runs the perfect depth to stay above the slime. Nice to crank on tr and not slime all the time. jerkbait and rig bite are on. 47-50 water lots of fish being caught. magicwormman, Quillback, Royal Blue and 1 other 4

I fished out of cape fair down to wooley and piney with my wife from about noon-5. Tough day for me, too. Caught one on shaky head and one on a wart, both in wooley creek. Water was dirty, maybe 8-12 inches of visibility from cape down through piney. Dont fish quite as hard when wife comes along, but we tried all sorts of things and nothing worked. Oh well, nice weather for 3-3 Champ188, Seth Clarkson and Quillback 3
Sore Thumbs Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 After doing some research on the Zoner I found out Don Iovino worked at Storm years ago. He knows how the sound chamber was made and what materials were used. He made the Zoner after he saw how much people were paying for Pre Rapala models. This is basically an old wart. Mine showed up in the mail today anxious to try them out. Quillback and Carl W 2

I have never used lead wire. Carl W
