Sand fleas for pompano.  Bubble rig or spoon works well too.

I haven't tried using sand fleas but we have caught a bunch. I have a bunch of gotchas but don't use them much anymore. Still haven't tried the bubble rig. Somedays a spoon is pretty kickass (like most of them). But a clouser or a wiggle minnow on a fly rod are about all I do. And I pretty much catch ladyfish, small reds, and jacks. A ladyfish on a 5wt is a handful and a whole lotta fun. And I've already lost count on the number of fish that have spooled me on an 8wt. It happened twice in one morning. It's crazy.

You sure don't have to wonder if you got a bite.

Lady fish are a ball. Have saved allot of DIY SW trips over the years. Buddies dad was a King Mac fanatic. Wicked fight but lots of trolling mostly. Don't have the patience for that.

The beaches of the gulf coast are as good as any I have ever been to and the fishing is very good.....but, we never go down in the peak season so I can only speak for off season.
